Some people want to act like S.O.G. wasn't outclassing Kessler all ends up before any cut was even opened (the first of which was opened on a punch, and was under the eye), or wasn't totally dominating him -- tagging him freely, making him miss, bewildering him with angles, swelling him up with a panoply of clean, effective punching -- before the 8th when the cut over the left eye was opened on a head collision. Kessler, for his part, should've been able to make adjustments to cope with, and protect himself from, the rough stuff from Ward. Ward appeared the seasoned veteran in there, not Kessler.

For the sake of realism, the officiating wasn't near like Ottke-Reid, and the fight itself certainly wasn't.

      Ward >>>>>>>>>> Kessler, 10/10.
      I beg to differ.

      9.5/10

How do you make adjustments for an opponent who is repeatedly headbutting you and cutting your face open so that you can't see?

Ward won the early rounds sure, but that doesn't mean anything for the rest of the fight when one fighter had impaired vision due to illegal tactics.

Early rounds? You mean 1-7, surely? By the end of which Kessler was dominated and becoming despondent already?

My man, Kessler was cut over the eye on a clash of heads, common in boxing.
By the time of the cut, the fight was almost ⅔ completed and Ward had pitched a shutout. When are you going to give Andre Ward some credit? One of the cuts he gave Kessler was on a punch, earlier in the fight. His control of range, use of angles, ability on the outside and inside, switching, speed and overall versatility and skillset were Kessler's downfall.

Besides which, my statement means exactly this,

"Kessler, for his part, should've been able to make adjustments to cope with, and protect himself from, the rough stuff from Ward."

Kessler shouldn't look like the novice in there. He should be able to protect himself if Ward starts getting street in there.

Yes, it's a shame when officials appear to not do a job that is 100% to our liking, and maybe Ward should have been warned for leading too much with his head on a handful of occasions in the fight, but we have to apply our common sense when assessing how much it influenced the eventual outcome. Kessler was being dominated rounds 1 through 7.

Any oversights or errors on Joe Cortez' part in Mayweather Jr.-Hatton didn't cost Hatton the fight. Hatton's limitations/mistakes in conjunction with Mayweather's superiority in every department (including Hatton's specialized area, infighting) cost him the fight.

Reiss' oversights in Ward-Kessler didn't cost Kessler the fight. Kessler's limitations in conjunction with Ward's superiority on the inside and outside cost him the fight.

Ward-Kessler was not Ottke-Reid, by any stretch of the imagination.

You all must learn to let it go and stop crying. Ward was and is the better man. Period.

Ward may have, but he's been on the down since Calzaghe. He was 29 then...

Froch just isn;t that great and Kessler could do, was physically the same or better than Froch.

              Both have solid chins.

              Power.

              Size.

Kessler was faster, more defensive, more technical.

I actually think Kessler might not be the same fighter after Froch, that was a true war. Froch might be damaged goods now too.
You gotta be kidding me..There was no major cut from a headbutt till the 2nd half of the fight and he had lost about every round up to that point...

                  Exactly.

Some individuals are spinning the actual events.

                  What could be their motivation?
