Comments Thread For: David Tua-Monte Barrett Close For Late June Clash?

According to several outlets in New Zealand, heavyweight contender David Tua (51-3, 43KOs) is close to a deal to fight Monte Barrett (34-9, 20KOs) in Brazil at the end of June. Barrett is 0-3 in his last three ring outings. Two of the losses were by knockout to Odlanier Solis and David Haye. Tua has been working his way back after a two-year layoff. He returned last October to stop Shane Cameron in two rounds and then won a lopsided decision over Friday Ahunanya in March. [Click Here To Read More]

Tua should be fighting a contender, perhaps Tony Thompson. He's running out of time, he needs to step up NOW.

Barrett appeared to be completely shot in his past couple of fights.

Tua keeps his steady bum diet. Well, at least he's staying active I guess.

at least he's active.3 fights in 10 months.it could be worse he could be fighting dominic Jenkins...besides I think Barrett & ahunanya are still better than sosnowski...he's only fighting b level opponents until he's out of his contract...as it clearly states in the article so b4 you guys jump all over him read it! He can't secure a top contender until after his next fight.cameron,Barrett, ahunanya are low risk stay busy fights.

He could at least fight a durable opponent though. The way Barrett's last fights have been, he'll probably not last long.
