The "Myth" that Corrales was some monster before he fought Floyd

Let's go beyond the hype HBO gave Corrales for a second. What made Corrales some type of force before Floyd faced him. I get that he was been hyped up, but what did he do to warrant that?

Outside of beating Manfredy, he resume looked like **** and he was beating up on bums and c-class fighters. Who wouldn't look good going against opponents like that?

    Best wins prior to Floyd:

    Angel Manfredy
    - a fighter who has never won a world title in his entire career.

Derrick Gainer- zab judah is taking his career more serious right now that Gainer was back then (which tells you all you need to know about him at that point).

BTW this has nothing to do with Floyd but everything to do with all the Hype Corrales was getting. Floyd win was very dominate and he did what he had to do, but Corrales IMO was very overated at that time.

Corrales was a monster at the time, whether you want to admit it or not, no one expected Floyd to beat him in the manner that he beat him, no one. It was a beautiful win, especially looking at his accomplishments afterwards (corrales).

While you are right to an extent, Corrales was no doubt a dangerous fighter, and he went on to do some good work even after Floyd iced him, so that's all you need to know.

Plus he was at least 3 inches taller than Floyd and 10lbs heavier.

Corrales was the betting favorite, 10lb weight advantage, reach and height advantage, was undefeated, a KO artist, and had Alex Ariza as his conditioning coach...

corrales was a monster at 130 at the time.

not only was he the biggest guy at 130. he was also considered the hardest punching.

due to hype not accomplishments. He hadn't done **** prior and if you want to know the definition of monster look at :
              Miguel Cotto
              Felix Trinidad
              Antonio Margarito
              122 Erik Morales

Those guys were actually running through top opposition and crushing opponents. Anyone can look dominate against bums and c-class fighters, which is why I didn't understand the hype

I agree that he did. Casa and Castillo were great wins, but I was referring to the pre-fight hype.

who focus only on pre fight though? Post fight is just as important.

Does wins have nothing to do with the hype he was getting prior to him fighitng Floyd

What does betting favorite have to do with anything. People can be swayed by media hype (which is what HBO was doing)

I'm just curious as to what wins made him a monster at 130. Only thing I can think of (which HBO keep pointing out) was a win over Manfredy. The thing is Manfredy has never won a world title and was dominated each and every time he stepped up to world class competition.

Homie I acknowledge he did great things afterwards, I'm just asking what warranted HBO hyping him up as such a force. Nothing on his resume justified it at the time, that's all I'm saying.
