Floyd retired to rest his body and let himself heal. He turned
down a rematch with Oscar at 147 because Oscar wanted the
same money split as before evnthough Floyd won the first fight.
I doubt very much Floyd was worried about Cotto. Any version
of Cotto would have gotten beat and possibly KO'd by Floyd.
Cotto was just an aggressive puncher, who applied pressure
and that's why Margarito was able to out pressure Cotto and
walk him down. If Cotto was half as good as people made him
out to be, then he would have exposed Margarito like Williams
& Mosley for the limited fighter he was/is. Cotto was clearly better
than Margarito but didn't have the mental and technical capabilities
to adapt under pressure. I don't believe for a sec that Cotto would
have known how to adjust to Floyd or even get Floyd to fight his
fight. I always said, take Cotto's punch and pressure away and
he is there for the taking and my prediction came to past. I earned
respect for Cotto now but still think he is a work in progress
while Floyd has always been a complete fighter.

Cotto fought Judah after Floyd and got his grill bust open
and low blowed Judah twice to gain an advantage. Floyd
totally dominated Judah and kicked his ass to the point
Judah had to hit him low to get out of being KO'd by Floyd.
Just because Cotto got a TKO on Judah, doesn't mean his
performance was more dominate than Floyd's because
Cotto took punishment and Floyd didn't AND on top of
that, AGAIN, Cotto fought Judah AFTER Floyd. Roger
Mayweather already said if Cotto got pass Margarito then
Floyd would fight him. Same as Oscar wanted because if
Cotto would have beaten Margarito, then he would of for sure
been the top draw in the sport and worth a Floyd spanking.

He had the Mosley/Margarito fight scored close? I'm just
wondering how he got his seeing eye dog in the Staples
center? Ha ha ha! Mosley kicked Margarito's ass from
        the first bell ring.

I totally agree with you here.Cotto has holes in his game but I believe May would have had to take the fight to Cotto to beat him.Think when did Cotto style change up?In his first fight with Mosley because Mosley was putting that pressure on him.Same with marga's,**** even Clottey was pressuring the **** out of him.I feel the way to beat Cotto is to pressure him he can't deal with it.That's why I would have wanted to see that fight. But I have to think the WW version of Cotto would have been a better fight.

You know what that really does make sense. If Cotto beat Marga's he would have been the top draw in the sport. But was'int he the top draw anyway at that time who was drawing more then Cotto at that time?I like that Cotto Judah fight more the May Judah.May judah got kinda boring it started off good even in the Middle rounds after the low blow it was just flat out wack.Judah stop trying he wanted to survive. But I have to agree Judah was on his way to be stop that's why he low blow May.

I know I am jumping in the middle of a convo but drinks or no drinks you still couldn't have scored that fight close.

Cotto was a very popular guy at that point but his biggest
earning potential wasn't reached. If he would have gotten
passed Margarito then it would have been bright lights, big
city for Cotto. Oscar knew it and that's why he was considering
a fight with Cotto if he successfully beat Margarito but after
Cotto lost, he opted for the next best thing which was Pacquiao
and the rest is history. I remember once Floyd started walking
Zab down, it was a thing of beauty to see Floyd change up
during the match from being a counter puncher to the aggressor
and there was nothing Zab could do but cheat Floyd to get out
                  of it.

I believe Cotto would have stalked Floyd because Floyd
would have never gave Cotto any advantage by fighting
his fight. I think more or less, Floyd would have counter
punched the more aggressive Cotto and stopped him around
the tenth. Cotto would have gotten frustrated because he
wouldn't be able to land. I think the only thing that probably
would have given Floyd a problem was Cotto's jab but it would
not have been consistent enough and Floyd technically would
have beat Cotto. When I think of Floyd and Cotto, I think of
it ending up like the Phillip Ndou match. Ndou was a big
puncher but Floyd beat the crap out of him by actually
taking the fight to Ndou which everyone was surprised
Floyd did. All in all, never saw Cotto beating Floyd. I too
wished that the fight happened before Margarito.

cotto gets stopped late, but that's because he gases. but that doesn't mean floyd should get a free pass for avoiding cotto by retiring.
