Numbers are not enough to describe how great a fighter is. It is relative on many factors so one has got to look at the whole package.

LOL!! I said Old Oscar not old Corrales. Corrales was young and undefeated, true but who the fuck is he? Like JLC and Gatti.....he won't touch a HOF status. The only HOF Floyd fought is Oscar and Marquez.
Believe me....once that 0 turns to a 1....his supposedly "top 40" ATG status will come crashing down to the 80's -100's. Some one mentioned here about winning 5 titles in different division. I apologize that I had forgotten about that. That should still carry Floyd in the top 100 ATG list.
ATG lists are difficult to compile....that's why they are all over the place...from the rings to ESPN etc etc.....the only thing you are guaranteed about an ATG list is that Ali and SRR make the top 5 or 10.......and frankly they don't particularly consider head to head scenarios........Comment

That's Why BOY's the UNDEFEATED,
UNDESPUTED MASTER of AVOIDANCE!!!Comment

i dont know who the f**k you are talking to, because i never questioned floyds talent. but joe louis, ray robinson, henry armstrong, ray leonard, roberto duran, hagler.... those greats dont share the same style as floyd but yet they are ranked highest on most lists.... and dont mention ali... floyd is NOTHING like ali.
dont we judge ATG based on ACCOMPLISHMENTS within an ENTIRE career? its foolish to start ranking current boxers in ATG lists. thats all im saying.Comment

definitely, floyd was the man moving up. he more than did enough to prove he was an elite fighter. most people just question his recent antics. anybody who discredits floyds career needs to stop. but lets not act like he fought EVERYONE.Comment

Why do i believe this will be a recurring accusation? For, if Floyd was to pick a fighter that "could beat him" and still defeat that fighter, u guys would still say he knew he could of beat that particular fighter.Comment

There is no question in my mind that he thinks about his 0.And yes, he has wins over tough fighters. But out of those victories, how many was A class fighters? The only 2 out of the 40 are De La Hoya and Marquez. Oscar had a long layoff and was past his prime and Marquez was too small. How are you the best with only 2 elite fighters on your resume. Until he puts Mosley,Pacquioa,Williams, and even Cotto on his resume, that 0 doesn't mean nothing. With the exception of Trinidad, Shane has fought every relevant fighter in his era. Win or lose, he fought them.He beat Margarita when he was a beast and no one wanted to fight him. He fought a Cotto in his prime and Oscar.Would Floyd have beaten the guys that Shane lost to?His die hard fans would say yes, but I say no.What makes you great is the level of your opponents. What makes you great is when you beat a man in front of you that may have a different style but is just as good as you. What makes you great is fighting with a bad cut or getting dropped and fighting even harder.Getting behind on the score cards needing a KO to win and gritting down and getting it, that's what make you great.Has Floyd done any of these things? Hell no.Why? Because 99% of the time, the man in front of him is someone that he is suppose to beat. And with his superb skills, he goes out and do it.But yet, not impressively. So Floyd, I admire your skills and think you're an awesome fighter. But great??? To hell with that "0". Can you imagine Sugar Ray Leonard fighting Ricky Hatton, a small Marquez, Gatti, or an old De La Hoya? He would have destroyed them.(And I mean that Davey Boy Green type of destroy). That's what great elite fighters do to lesser competition. Why couldn't Floyd do it? Simple! He's not a great elite fighter. At least not yet.Last edited by jvsnypes; 04-15-2010, 01:26 AM.Comment
