It was all for the negotiating table which fell through on some **** we ALL aint foresee.

Floyd had 2 fights before the Baldomir fight: Shamba(great measuring stick at the time for your 1st fight at 147), and then Zab(which was the fight that at the time everybody wanted 'even the casual fan wanted that fight', as Zab was still considered EXTREMELY skilled). Zab in his previous fight lost the "LINEAL" title to Baldy(mind you Zab was at WW a entire year before Floyd), as Baldy was spossed to be a tune up for Floyd. Well the tune up became the tune up from hell as he beat Zab down, and took his title(as Zab overlooked him because the Floyd fight was on the table signed sealed and delivered). After beating Zab(while Floyd remained calm in the midst of the "malee in the ring", he did what everyone at the time wanted him to do; that wa to fight Baldy and "prove" himself as the "MAN" at 147. So Floyd obliges and does so.
I think everything you said here is right. While I still feel that every name up there is easy picking for a tru elite fighter this is all tru.
After Floyd gets rid of Baldy he fights ODH. This is the fight that propted Floyd to leave Bob Arum in the 1st place, as Floyd wanted this fight and Bob was done playing with his old toy(Floyd) and had moved on to his "new" toy(Cotto). Floyd agrees to ALL terms set forth by ODH(as ODH knows the cards he holds and what his "Boxing" worth is.......they didn't call him the "Golden Boy" for nothing).
This is also tru and I have giving Floyd credit on this win many times on this site.He fought great and pulled out the campionship rd's.(which I felt he needed I had it a draw after 10)
So Floyd beats ODH, and moves on to the next big threat......Hatton. Hatton was preceived as a threat to Floyd as he had just KO'd JLC the very same year that he fought Floyd('07 if I'm not mistaken, I probably should check BoxRec....but oh well, I'll work with memory). Now mind you everyone is impressed with Ricky and think he has a legitimate chance and breaking Floyd off; so once Floyd embarasses Ricky, the search is on for another fighter to shut Floyd's mouth. Remember Ricky beat Collazo at 147 and then went back down to 140, so it wasn't Ricky's 1st WW fight
Now here is were it gets funny and suspect.Hatton perceived as a threat hell no.Most boxing insiders knew what this was Money getting Money off a fighter who was not in his league. When May was fighting Hatton which I believe was going into dec 07 which means it was basically 08.Cotto had already fought and beat Mosley in Nov 07 a month before. So you know what that means with his win over face first Hatton Cotto was next up and Marga's a tall Mexican who you can't seem to hurt right around the corner. It looks to me when the tough got tough Money got going.Oh and hatton beat a shell of JLC he was over weight for the fight(meaning he was not even at the Jr WW limit)and look fat and old(check that fight for your self and you do the math). He also beat Tuzu but he was also old but gave a better account of him self then JLC did.
After Floyd KO's Ricky he retires(briefly). At the end of 2K6 Floyd is fighting for the lineal title and Cotto(for instance is fighting his 1st fight at WW for the "vacant" WBA title, at the same time Margo is fighting Clottey, and Paul hasn't even fought Margo yet so there is no benefit in fighting any of these fighters other than Cotto; who we all know Bob was not going to allow.
You know were I come out on this were there's money a fight can be made.I believe he retired because the wall's were closing in.I like to think of may as an opportunist. He was fighting at 140lb Zab win the WW title he say I can beat Zab of course Zab is not on May's level and if you knew boxing you knew Zab had no chance. But to casual fan Zab has a name smart move get the name but the risk is not really there with Zab.On to the next one Baldy lol not gonna even bother.Onto the next one Hoya now he took a risk fighting Hoya even then Hoya would have beating most fighters.Oh and I really think that was Hoya's last go round(Sorry Manny)Hatton over rated just like Khan and Line Joey.over rated IMO.so let's see and look again Shamba who come-on had no shot.Zab who just came off a lost and everybody who knows boxing knows his MO so knew he had no chance.Baldy lol.Hatton over rated. Then when it was time for some real fights mouth watering fights that true blue boxing fans were craving for he say's he has nothing else to prove.except for Hoya he proved nothing lets be real real and call him what he is.OPPORTUNIST!!!!!!!!
Rome as always you mke valid points my friend, but you have to look at the "air" of the times bruh. It was slightly different that you are stating mayne. Zab just became considered "without heart" in the Baldy fight. before the Baldy fight he was still very live. Baldy gained momentum and an un-earned respect after beating Zab(because of the weight behind Zab's name).
Hatton was not over-rated at the time, he was also live. The fight with Tszyu was 2 years before Floyd, so the luster had worn thin on that win(kinda like the Shane over Margo win, it's worn thin).
I do agree Floyd is an opportunist, but in this sport you HAVE to be one.

The man had options before, a lot of them and decided to retire instead so what does that tell you?
Cotto pre-margarito would have been a problem. P-Will with his lengthy intangibles would force Floyd to do something different, not saying they would win but I am saying we would be entertained and Floyd would earn respect for taking chances and not just respect from those in his community, but a larger broader appeal in the way SRL and Ali achieved before him.

P.Will can beat Floyd and would be a bigger challange to Floyd than Shane. No credit would be given for a Bradley fight(that would be Hatton all over again) Floyd thus far has been too good to get the credit that he longs for.
