You can be good enough to get to the goal line but not good enough to punch it in. In Boxing terms you can be good enough at 146 pounds but not as good trying to make 140 pounds. Know what I'm Talkin' Bout?
You should watch mma those guys cut massive amounts of weight with ease!

Which Mayweather has perfected since 2005 correct? Since becoming a welterweight in 2005, we are now in 2010 (go look at the calendar) who is the best "welterweight" on his resume? Just give me one name and one name only, specifically who is the best "welterweight" Mayweather has fought since becoming one in 2005?

      • I'm pretty sure Shane Mosley will give a tougher fight for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Than Oscar De La Hoya did. Shane is better than Oscar

        • That is one aspect about Mosley's style that always viewed as a weakness. He does lack an authorative jab. The ones he used against Margarito were pretty good though. But the advantage in that category I would definitely have to give to Floyd.

So in essence you are saying that Floyd retired(prolonged vacation) after just 3 fights at WW and not only are you saying that but you are also saying that Floyd minus the 21 month lay-off only has a total accumulation of 13 months of WW experience. Not to mention the fact that he ventured into JMW for one fight.

Sooooooo by your logic we have a Boxer who became lineal champ at 147, went up to 154 to snag a belt and then came back down to 147 to defend his lineal championship crown and ended that fight by TKO. Sounds like we have a Boxer on the cusp of being a legitimate ATG by looking at the post you made that this post is in response to.
Chiefy Floyd had a total of three WW fights and only one was a true WW and that was slow ass Baldy.Judah and Hatton were both smaller man. They also were 140lb champs you can make and argument for Judah but when you look at that fight it's clear that Judah was the smaller man.I say this to bring up he did nothing special at WW.But if he beats Mosley then he's on his way.

How you gonna bring up the de la hoya fight? It was at 154 and everybody knows Oscar had a HUGE weight advantage and tried to bully floyd and was still outboxed easily. He threw some flurries at the end of every round to get the crowd excited but he got whooped 8 rounds to 4 and you know it!

Exactly! Mosley is the start of a new day for Floyd, no back sliding and making Nonito Donaire jump up to 147(that's for you Sugar he is on the P4P list, I know how you love lists), but actually fighting guys from 140-154 if nothing special presents itself at 147.

You would describe that as a "whooping", he won but really.... a whooping? It looked like an exhibition match, one guy stopped doing anything after round 6 and the other guy just did a little bit more.
