Their clearly doing it because they can. I figure since you don't know Floyd personally and you hate on him you must be a Manny fan cause you aint no boxing fan if you can't appreciate the epitome of the sweet science (PBF).
IDK Sugar. 6 pounds is a BIG difference at Floyd's age; besides just like football is a game of inches, Boxing is a game of pounds. You can be good enough to get to the goal line but not good enough to punch it in. In Boxing terms you can be good enough at 146 pounds but not as good trying to make 140 pounds. Know what I'm Talkin' Bout?

So in essence you are saying that Floyd retired(prolonged vacation) after just 3 fights at WW and not only are you saying that but you are also saying that Floyd minus the 21 month lay-off only has a total accumulation of 13 months of WW experience. Not to mention the fact that he ventured into JMW for one fight.

Sooooooo by your logic we have a Boxer who became lineal champ at 147, went up to 154 to snag a belt and then came back down to 147 to defend his lineal championship crown and ended that fight by TKO. Sounds like we have a Boxer on the cusp of being a legitimate ATG by looking at the post you made that this post is in response to.
Yes it would sound like that if you applied your already "formed" opinion on the matter, meaning whatever is said you already have it in your mind that he is an ATG (which he is pre-welterweight division), well he won't be viewed that way at welter unless he takes on some significant fights.

Look at the context of my prior posts and the one you're responding to. I specifically said "welterweight", not against a natural 140lbs who went life and death with Collazo, or a part time promoter who fought once a year and wasn't living the life of an active fighter, in context you could clearly see what I meant by my statements.

If you know about boxing usually a fighter focuses on regaining his timing and not his fighting weight when he comes back. You wanna get rounds in and gradually work your way back to your best fighting condition. So Floyd was not 100% against Marquez. If you saw his recent interview he was saying he was glad he got in the rounds against Marquez to work off the ring rust. Once he's totally back in peak form I think he could easily get to 140 if he had to.

Now you tell me can a man that comes into a welter-wt fight weighing 148 make 140? Of course he can if he had to. I label anyone that can't admire the fact that in his 2nd fight back he's fighting a guy the so called P4P guy wanted absolutely no part of. Why not move past all the criticism and give props to the man for doing what he's doing.
One question....is boxing predicated on who fights who based on the pound for pound list, or are there divisions for a reason?

Dude why does every moron with a keyboard on here assume no one on this forum knows anything about boxing, but they do?

I have been in and around boxing gyms, watching fighters train, watching trainers ply their trade and sparring myself for over 15 years. Have I attended live events for over 20 years? Yes. Now I cover them live ringside as a member of the press for online boxing publications. Stop assuming so much, simply because a grown man has his nuts in your mouth.

Right now boxing has allowed Manny Pacquiao mainly to throw weight classes out of the window. It should be about fighting the best in and around your division but greed and favortism has turned it into something else.
