And why is Dawson fighting these old ass guys anyway? He needs to take on some of these young cats.
He`s about to take on one of the belt holders at lightheavy.

At 170, this would be a decent fight. One that if Hopkins wins, he should fight Dawson. If he loses, retire. Too bad he can't do 168 and pick up a strap in a third weight class though.

Lol, I would not count Hopkins out even at 45. He proved me wrong once against Pavlik. Thing is he looked a bit washed up and old and tired against Calazage. But his energy looked better against Pavlik. He looked old against Jones. But Hopkins is tricky as hell I would not be surprised if he plays possum a bit when he can in some fights. To draw in big name young fighters trying to get an all time great on their resume. Meanwhile he gets them on his.

Pavlik may have been bigger then Bute is right now for whoopin' HBO house-boy Taylor but Bute is no bigger than Joe Calzaghe was before the B-Hop & RJJ fights, in terms of:

          1) Bute just had his first HBO televised fight against a second-tier oppoent. Calzaghe got his first HBO exposure Vs Kessler (which was one of the lowest rated fights on HBO despite the big 60k crowd), vs Bika & Peter Manfredo.

          2) Both Calzahge & Bute are white, non-American, undefeated Title-holders and bring that Oscar Delahoya-esque good looks (no ****) to the table.

P4P, Calzaghe was ranked higher than Bute right now but I assure you, HBO doesn't determine which fight, fighter gets televised based on P4P rankings.

That was a really good fight, I've been trying hard to find it in 720p copy online... Can't find it anywheres, I'm pretty sure it was broadcasted in 720p but no one has the copy online

And that was Calzaghe's first serious exposure against a solid opponent in Kessler, he has been on HBO several times including Bika and Manfredo.

Here's some of Calzaghes fans, or atleast celebrities who like going to boxing matches. I believe that picture is from the BHOP fight not the Kessler one though.

No,what it is is that Hopkins had 2 different conditioning coaches for the Pavlik and Calzage fight.

For the Calzage fight he had the overated Mackie Shilstone cause ****m Richardson was recovering from a stroke.

For the Pavlik fight Hopkins had ****m Richardson. That`s why Hops looked sharper and more energetic in the Pavlik fight then he did in the Calzage fight.

It's easy to put the blame on the coach and not the fighter. Not saying that it doesn't have some affect in a fight but its not going to be like with Richardson BHOP automatically turns into superman now.

Thanks, If it was just a difference in trainers Mackie must be a bit crap. Does Hopkins still train with ****m Richardson?
