Do people forget that Cotto barely squeaked by Clottey?

Also they say the game is 90% mental, if he is weak on that 90% he would have to be amazing to be really good but to me he is just pretty good.
He is an alright fighter but to me he is nothing special and any decent fighter should beat him, the fight with Cotto ended up being really close because of the cut and it was Cotto's first hard fight after Margarito.Comment

Clottey would make Mayweather run the whole fight with his turtle shell defense if they ever fight.Comment

Actually that is exactly what it means, he is soft in the head so that really limits how good he can be. He has alright abilities but if your mind does not allow you to use them properly you are not really that good and will find wyas to come up short.

Yeah, his mentality limits how good he can be, but it doesn't stop him being a good fighter. Clottey is skilled and physically tough, he's not getting beat by journeymen, he's beating good fighters, losing competitive fights to very good fighters and only getting beat against a great fighter who is a bad matchup for him.
There are what, 1000+ welterweights in the world? Judging by the way you take issue with my use of the word 'good', you must think that even the top 0.1% of a division doesn't neccessarily quality as a good fighter, which is crazy.Comment

Did you hear me not say I didn't buy Clottey's hand injury excuse? He blamed his loss to Pac on having the ****s.Comment

Disagree.

He is a notch below Cotto and two notches below Pacquiao I don't really consider that position to be overly praise worthy.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 04-10-2010, 01:24 PM.Comment

And also Clottey is a force to be reckoned with against guys who stand in front of him. Mosley would have had fits with Clottey. If you move though and don't allow him to sit down on his punches then he's not the same animal. He's too selective with his punches.Comment
