Oscar De LeHoya: What has he ever done to warrant ATG status?

He lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao but these are like high end ATGs. Top 40 or 50. Plus he was past his best and was actually very competitive with Floyd--no small feat.
Hopkins was bigger than him and De La Hoya was in the fight up until the KO.
You do not even consistently compete with guys like that unless you are great yourself. The only time De La Hoya ever looked like he wasn't fit to share a ring with a fighter was the Pacquiao fight, and we all know the story behind that one.
Can't give him much credit for the Chavez wins. He was pass it and very undersized against Oscar.
He was on the cusp of greatness his whole career. Never quite made it.
He was a very good fighter. But not an ATG.

good or bad, oscar has had more of an affect on boxing then any other in his generation. made more money then any fighter. drew larger crowds then any other. 10 time world champion in 6 weights regardless of who he fought is an incredible feat too. he may not of always got the nod is his biggest fights, but he made them good competitive fights. no one ever fell asleep watching oscar fight. i think hes deserving of ATG status. just not at the top of the list.

The fact that he lost six fights or whatever it was is a reflection of his willingness, and his desire, to face the best. That is why he is so popular among fight fans in general. Floyd could learn something from him.
