If he has to fight the giant again, the belt won't have anything to do with it. It would be because of the rematch clause in his contract, which was a legal agreement between him and Valuev and had nothing to do with the WBA. But he should hopefully be able to pay off Valuev to wait while he has a unification fight.

Also, the belt is his only negotiating asset to give him a chance of getting a fight with the Klitschkos on good terms, so he's not likely to drop it.

The belt is overrated. The Klitschkos want the Haye fight bad enough that they will give him the same deal with or without the belt involved.

I don't see how Haye fans can honestly believe the belt is that important. If either Klitschko beats Haye and wins it they will be stripped by the WBA almost right away for refusing the mandatory.

The Klitschkos, unlike Haye, don't want to spend the next 2 years taking the easiest fights against the opponents the public does not want to see.

Anyone with an open mind would realize that the IBO Heavyweight title carries more legitimacy than the WBA belt anyway.

It's like the video in which Haye recently appeared training. People were calling him fat and out of shape. That was not true. He had a bit of fat around his waist, but so what ? His body looked like the one of Tyson at 235. Still looked good.

You have to start to make a big deal about the weight of a fighter when he actually balloons up like Solis, Tua or Peter. Then it can really affect your performances. Five pounds won't affect Haye's performance.
Just a little side note. Tyson got knocked out in three of the five fights when he fought at over 230 pounds.

But he was over the hill...

                      Haye is in his prime.

However, I admit it was not a great comparison.
