Comments Thread For: David Haye Says "Heavy" Weight Will Not Stop a KO Win

A few eyebrows were raised when WBA heavyweight champion David Haye weighed in on Friday at 222-pounds, which is the heaviest of his entire career. Haye has never weighed above 217-pounds for any of his previous heavyweight bouts, including last year's title win over Nikolai Valuev. He defends the WBA title against mandatory John Ruiz on Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Ruiz was 231-pounds - hi second-lowest weight since 2001.

Haye looks in great shape not sure why anyone would be worried about that.

its obvious that Haye altho in good shape, isnt in his BEST shape.
Ruiz on the other hand is in the best shape hes been in a while. I think thats the reason.
I got Haye by KO btw

The extra weight certainly isn't muscle.

Is he not taking this fight seriously?

                  Weigh in picture:

Looks good to me, i think today you need more than 220 pounds as an heavyweight. It will help him to smash Ruiz into retirement. His chest and shouldermuscle look stronger.

People make a big deal out of his weight, and they shouldn't. The dude doesn't have to kill himself anymore to make weight. He must eat a lot. Good for him.

It's like the video in which Haye recently appeared training. People were calling him fat and out of shape. That was not true. He had a bit of fat around his waist, but so what ? His body looked like the one of Tyson at 235. Still looked good.

You have to start to make a big deal about the weight of a fighter when he actually balloons up like Solis, Tua or Peter. Then it can really affect your performances. Five pounds won't affect Haye's performance.
