I actually followed both and was a fan of Manny and Hamed around that time. Here's the deal

First, Manny didn't have the skills back then that he has now. He got by on speed, power and aggression, but had bad footwork, was constantly out of positon, and was very reckless at times.

Hamed was had similar flaws but he had a very good chin. Hamed at 126 was faster than Pac and had better footwork. Also He had more power and while Pac was left hand dominate, Hamed was one on the only boxers to have one punch KO power in both hands.

What would have happened if both fought is that Hamed would stun Manny causing him to get into a brawl. In a brawl, with Hamed's speed and power in both hands....Pac would have gottten KO'd within 8 rounds. Yes Manny beat Barrera and Barrera beat Hamed, but that was an unfocused Hamed that didn't take boxing seriously. Even at that, Barrera won by being patient and counterpunching.....something Manny just didn't possess at that time.

Not only that, But Manny had terrible Left hook defense (Go watch his fight with Hussein) and that was one of Naz's money punches (Naz is a southpaw and that is the punch he KO's most opponents with).

If Manny had the skill set he has now, along with Roach training him, He would have TKO Hamed, but the version of Pac then vs a Prime, focused, Ingle-trained Hamed KO's Manny within 8 rounds.

What he isn't realizing is that Hamed's style is what's going to be his downfall.

Hamed's style, while entertaining, would never be a style that could beat any atg. It was great for throwing off tomato can's.

Hamed would have had to have beat Barrera or at least gone toe to toe, and beat Morales, or at least go toe to toe, to convince me that he has a chance against Pac. The fact that he got destroyed by Barrera in a landslide decision (even with Marco's point deductions) shows that he really shouldn't be mentioned in conversation with greats from his weight class.

However, Pacquiao has faced BETTER fighters than Hamed. He hasn't faced anybody that fights with their arms down, then lunges forward in an attempt to end the fight with one punch.

He didn't land a single one of those on Barrera, because Barrera is a great fighter. Don't expect him to catch Manny with one either.

Hamed had a terribly unorthodox style, and his defense was pitiful. He did however have a ton of natural ability which was what carried him - namely his superhuman reflexes and his ability to dodge punches and not take hits without even using his gloves to block them.

I just don't see him beating the best fighters from the 126lb class. Barrera, Morales, or Pac.
That's fine. I respect that because at least you have a reason for your opinion.

I just think Hamed gets the nod from me because his style doesn't play into Pacquiao's style at 126, who was also quite sloppy as well, difference being he was easy to hit. While Hamed was slick and not as easy to hit. At least not when you don't got your fundmentals down like MAB and EM did. Pacquiao didn't have the assets he has now back then.

Again....I was a fan of both back then, and I have seen every single one of thier fights (Hamed and Pacquiao) so I know both of them very well.

Why are you even mentioning Hasegawa? He is a bantam not a featherweight.

              Nice try though.

Your just a *******. To you Pacquiao beats Camacho, Arguello, Duran, SRL, Hearns, Ali, SRR, BHop. Your opinion is worth as much as a *****, pretty much.

barrera/morales/marquez could not beat a raw pacquiao, what makes you think a clown like hamed would? someone barerra toyed with?

hamed slick but agressive? what does that mean? listen to yourself...

Honestly...Hamed kills that version of Manny at 126. That is about as worst of a style matchup Manny could have at the time.
