I don't know how anybody can not love Teddy and his incoherent and drunken sounding rants. I think he forgets what he is talking about halfway through the tyrade and starts over again. I think you could see Tesitorre wincing as the exec's at ESPN were yelling into his ear "Make him stop talking. Cut him off! CUT HIM OFF!"
So thats why Joe looks like he's in pain during those times?? Makes perfect sense..poor guy!
I see what you're saying but, Atlas doesn't run espn, He has no say in business related issues. Is he supposed to keep expressing his opinions in regards to PPV events and lose his job over it. He probably feels the same way but, unfortunately has to keep his mouth shut on that topic so he can make a living.
Hell no he's not supposed to endanger his job it just doesnt sit well with me, ya know? Bugs the hell out of me actually. But yeah, he is just an employee, but also a sort of a 'lone gun' too, who always said what was on his mind, no matter who liked it (or didnt).
I hope that Federal Commision never happpens. It will end up being more corrupt than anything you can imagine. Don King might not have the pull but somebody else just will. The only way could imagine a Federal boxing Commision being a good thing, is they have a belt. And then whoever had that belt is considered undisputed champion. And then there is not the 3 belt thing anymore.
I am sorry say I trust Don King and Jose Suliman more than Political parties of the US federal government and ABC broadcasting corporation who Teddy Atlas is an employee of and mouthpiece for.
Who are ABC Corporation and the United States Federal Government anybody to accuse others of corruption. If that is not the kettle calling the pot black. I dont know what is.
I caught that on ESPN. I totally agree with him. There should be no reason why Don King should have so much controll over the wbc. Sen McCain should definitely step in there and fix these issues.
That's not the answer. What is it with **********s flocking to big governement and government control all of a sudden? Isn't that kind of conflicting with their traditional party stance?
Anyway, what would actually help boxing is if two of the big four merged. When this happened, the two beltholders could fight each other for the belt, and it would be considered the most legitimate title. Kind of like the ABA and NBA or the AFL and NFL merging...
If we had just two belts, or ideally, just one, that was a recognized champion, that would solve a lot of the corruption, assuming you can keep the major one legit. If enough people were watching, it would be harder to taint.
I don't know if I'm for a boxing commission, like there's a commissioner in baseball or football. There's way too many athletes involved vs. the other pro leagues.
But there could be some membership involved, like the Screen Actors Guild, or Writers Guild, where, upon invitation, you could apply to become a member. Those deserving of Top 30 status or whatever would be invited every year or so. Then those belonging to that guild could have a union, there could be a governing body of this LEGIT organization, and they could operate more like a pro league.
But keep in mind how many fights go on every day in every corner of the world. Having one commission over all of it is both unrealistic and naive to believe it would work.
My question is if Castellejo gets stripped who gets the belt? Since Mayo is the WBC next chanellenger then does he get it?
I am a Mayo fan, but I don't want see him get it like that..and I agree he doesn't deserve the shot hes getting. So make it some kinda of toruney with OMUA, Santos, Castellejo, Mayo, Vargas, Simms...ect ect
Best case scenario, as of today, would be for Vargas to challenge Castillejo on August 20 and for the winner to fight Mayorga within 90 days, this seems to be the only fair solution within this corrupt string of events

Mayorga will fight against the next highest ranked available contender for the vacant title.

Speaking of Ouma, did Winky not promise him a shot after the first Mosley fight? It seems to me that Kassim felt just as 'avoided' as Winky's always felt, and Winky knew that and therefore promised him a fight during one of the press conferences.

Whats up Tracy
It seems to me like winky is going for the money now, i guess i can't blame him. He is hot right now, and to take a chance against Ouma would be to risky, if he wins who cares? But if he looses his big paydays are over

That is so very true...a great point. Shame of it is those are the very same reasons that Winky was so avoided for so long..and the very reason he promised Kassim a fight. Maybe he'll evuentally get around to doing that. He's not really obligated or anything..it was strictly a verbal 'thing'.
P.S...love the new avatar, by the way. How are ya doing anyway?? It's been a while, and I tend to worry about you a bit cause I know youre going away pretty soon!
