I didn't hear the rant, but damn, if that's not the truth. Don King is, perhaps, the worst thing to ever happen to boxing. The man just pushes money here or there, and gets his way. If boxing banned the King, then it'd probably have a huge turn-around, in terms of popularity, and legitimacy.

Teddy Atlas cracks me up regularly....I forget which fight but Emmanuel Augustus Burton was fighting, doing his showboating thing and pissing off the ref, but all the commentators thought that Burton was WAY ahead on the scorecards. Of course, the judges then proceeded to screw up the decision and I think one of them even neglected to give a 10-8 round for a knockdown...Teddy Atlas grabbed the judge after the match was over and grilled him over the decision and scoring...funny as hell...He also bitches about Joe Mesi and Rid**** Bowe pretty regularly, which is also amusing....his bit about the Don King this last week was awesome since you rarely hear this kinda stuff.

        hmm

Good for Teddy. Someone who's respected on the sport shpuld make some noise when corruption is bovious. Teddy is NOT being a hypocrite about PPV's though, because, ESPN DID give a fair price of only 30 dollars, which is much less than what others offer.

if anything, Mayorga should be top 10-15 at 160, and Vargas should be around 8-10 at 154
Not really. Vargas hasnt't even fought at 154. Not even 160. His last fight he hit 162. At least Mayorga can make 154 lbs (obviously he can after being at 147 and being to small for 160).

        Mayorga>Vargas at 154.

Mayorga is a more live and legit fighter these days than Vargas.

Atlas is cool, but he needs to calm down a little. He goes way to crazy sometimes. LOL

And then there is not the 3 belt thing anymore.

I am sorry say I trust Don King and Jose Suliman more than Political parties of the US federal government and ABC broadcasting corporation who Teddy Atlas is an employee of and mouthpiece for.

Who are ABC Corporation and the United States Federal Government anybody to accuse others of corruption. If that is not the kettle calling the pot black. I dont know what is.

man, all i can say is youre either nuts or just got into the fight game. suliman is a known criminal and don king is well don king. these guys control judges. they strip boxers of their belts if they don't play along. they make horrible matchups to pad the records. if you have the money you can buy abelt from these guys. i'm too riled up to go on. we need one commision and one belt. these criminals have ruled too long

IMO neither guy has the right to be considered the mandatory WBC contender at 154....if anything, Mayorga should be top 10-15 at 160, and Vargas should be around 8-10 at 154
Of course they were justified, and 100% accurate. Everyone knows that Don "****head" King owns the WBC, and does whatever the **** he wants to with it. Teddy's asking for something the sport should've had 50 years ago. A ****ing commission to keep Boxing clean(er).

And no, Mayorga doesn't deserve a title shot. You aren't rewarded with a title shot when you're beaten to a pulp by a guy who gets humiliated by a boxer in his next fight.

Anyway, what would actually help boxing is if two of the big four merged. When this happened, the two beltholders could fight each other for the belt, and it would be considered the most legitimate title. Kind of like the ABA and NBA or the AFL and NFL merging...

If we had just two belts, or ideally, just one, that was a recognized champion, that would solve a lot of the corruption, assuming you can keep the major one legit. If enough people were watching, it would be harder to taint.

I don't know if I'm for a boxing commission, like there's a commissioner in baseball or football. There's way too many athletes involved vs. the other pro leagues.

But there could be some membership involved, like the Screen Actors Guild, or Writers Guild, where, upon invitation, you could apply to become a member. Those deserving of Top 30 status or whatever would be invited every year or so. Then those belonging to that guild could have a union, there could be a governing body of this LEGIT organization, and they could operate more like a pro league.

But keep in mind how many fights go on every day in every corner of the world. Having one commission over all of it is both unrealistic and naive to believe it would work.
The "**********s" aren't trying to increase government control....McCain just wants the ****ing sport cleaned up. Everyone does, and a boxing commission is probably the only way to do it. Turn boxing into a nationally (or internationally, preferrably) regulated sport, and when corruption is found, and proven, ban the individual from the sport for a given period of time, up to a lifetime ban.

Don King should be banned for life...and then publicly stoned...and then his corpse should be left rotting in a cage suspended from the ceiling of MSG as a warning to other promotors and managers.

Sure, getting rid of all the belts and breaking it down to a single title would be great for the one fighter in each division who happened to be the holder of the title, but all the alphabet belts give the younger and up and coming fighters to give them a little recognition. I do feel, though, that there should be one exclusive title in each division, that gives the fighter who holds that title the status of the "Best of the best" in that division, and the fighter who holds that belt should be forced to vacate any and all other titles upon winning that title.

I didn't know that; wonder why he didn't give pro a shot? I ****en love Teddy and agree with those rankings the thread starter proposed. Neither of those guys deserve to be a mandatory anything right now.

I do wish George Foreman had clocked him though, when Teddy kept shoving him at that press conference. Someone has a gif of that displayed on their posts. It's funny when you see it now. Check out the expression on George's face.
