Oh, I see..so, since theirs was $10-$20 cheaper, it's not the least bit hypocritical?? Especially since Teddys favorite 'saying' was something about televised boxing should be free to the fans, regardless of who's fighting.
he was just saying that because espn was hosting the ppv, since he works for fnf and all I guess it makes sense, again it is a bit hypocritical...boxing should be free like it was in the 70s damnit
even the 80s.when mike fought buster it was on regular cable television live ;o

Hey, I agree that it was a little cheaper than usual, and thats cool. And I also know that Teddy has to be..hmmm, lets say "selective" in his commentary when it's a bit on the negative side..so I dont fault him for going along with it, it's not like it's up to him or anything. I'm just pointing out all the many, many times he was the loudest complainer against ppv prices..fleecing the fans, etc. It's extremely hard to just forget all that. That was all I was saying really.
Thanks ever so much Webster, cause correct spelling is of great importance here at the site. If thats how you intend to spend you time here, youre gonna be a very busy guy.
...I kept remembering though how he used to "go on" that way over ppv prices too, and now ESPN is doing it too. Hard to take him serious when for yr's I heard him rant over that and now theyre doing the very same thing
Look at the price of the ESPN PPV and the quality of the fights vs those on HBO. Lower price, better quality fights, more of them.
Kind of hard to see how ESPN was going against what he said about PPV's being priced too high for the lackluster fights when they put a great card together for barely over half the price of the crap on HBO.

Lol, why are some of you making a federal case of my comment?? I dont get it How much the ppv was, or who was on it was not my point, or the main point at all. Geeze....
I don't agree that there should be a Federal Boxing Commission. We don't have one for baseball or football, or any other sport.
What needs to happen is that fighters and their managers need to take these things into their own hands. We need more fighters like Diaz throwing away their belts to give us the fights we want to see rather than taking the Mandatory Corpse that no one wants to see. It makes financial sense for them and produces great fights for us.
A Federal Commission is kind of like us going into Iraq (per excuse number 4). You cannot force Democracy from the outside. It has to be something that the people on the inside want and fight for themselves.
The fans can help, as we are the second most important part of the sport. Quit buying these overpriced PPV's, quit tuning in when you see Zab Judah facing Cosme Rivero. Only the fighters and the fans can change the face of boxing.
I'm not a huge DLH fan, but I think his promotion company can also help if he starts putting together the fights people want to see. I can see boxers jumping over when they expire their King/Arum contracts.
Boxing has to clean itself up from the inside, not the outside.
That's not the answer. What is it with **********s flocking to big governement and government control all of a sudden? Isn't that kind of conflicting with their traditional party stance?
Anyway, what would actually help boxing is if two of the big four merged. When this happened, the two beltholders could fight each other for the belt, and it would be considered the most legitimate title. Kind of like the ABA and NBA or the AFL and NFL merging...
If we had just two belts, or ideally, just one, that was a recognized champion, that would solve a lot of the corruption, assuming you can keep the major one legit. If enough people were watching, it would be harder to taint.
I don't know if I'm for a boxing commission, like there's a commissioner in baseball or football. There's way too many athletes involved vs. the other pro leagues.
But there could be some membership involved, like the Screen Actors Guild, or Writers Guild, where, upon invitation, you could apply to become a member. Those deserving of Top 30 status or whatever would be invited every year or so. Then those belonging to that guild could have a union, there could be a governing body of this LEGIT organization, and they could operate more like a pro league.
But keep in mind how many fights go on every day in every corner of the world. Having one commission over all of it is both unrealistic and naive to believe it would work.
That sounds like a very reasonable solution and good points there.

not getting on your case, just pointing out that ESPN seems to be doing it right, which is what Teddy asked for.
I meant to say why did you hijack this thread. And next time you intend to hijack a thread be so decent as to display this sign........
See McKay, this is where you go wrong..I dont have to 'pass' anything I post "by you"..deal with it already. Damn, how many times do I have to suggest the ignore feature to you if I bother you so much. And please make it clear how my posts about Hatton vs. Tszyu differ so much from everyone else's..you do that, since youre not happy unless youre constantly up my ass some way. Get a life why dont you! I'm not usually a complete *****, but you just nag like a girl and aggrivate the hell out of me, for lack of something better to do.
Geeze, irritates so much that I got this confused with Hatton-Tszyu! See what a pain in the ass you are??
