He isnt exciting, Hopkins proved himself time and time again but it wasnt until Tito or De la hoya gave him a big payday to get respect. Well he still doesnt have it. There styles are just to boring for anyone to give them loads of cash for. Despite their styles being effective. -
OK. lets nip this in the bud internet tough guy. You dont know me. It kills me how dudes sit behind a computer and type away and talk tough. Im not the one kid. Respect is demanded chump. Again. Im not the one. Got it. Back to the topic:Originally posted by abdiel2k3LMAO
are u ******ed?
how can u avoid someone who had bealry entered ur wieght class
as far as chosen tayor over tito or winky
dumbass
both fight were sceduled around the same time
i doubt hopkins is "ducking" winky
ya hes a threat to lose a boring ass one sided fight
but so is hopkins
plus hes naturaly the bigger guy
a legit 160lb fighter
not like tito a 154 guy fighten at 160
Read between the lines. Winky is one of the hottest fighters out but there is no money in a Bhop/Winky fight. Whatever? Sounds like a duck to me no matter how you slice it.Comment

Hes ducking Winky because he knows thats a extremley dangerous fight to take at the tail end of your career.Originally posted by TRUEVisionDCOk. this has become painfully obvious. Su****ion #1 He chose to fight a relatively unknown in Taylor...fine. Taylor is an up and comer. Then he says he was going to fight Tito for 8 figures (which would have happened had Tito won). Why didnt he ever say I want the WINNER of Tito/Winky fight?? Su****ion #2.
Now he says there is "not enough money" in a Winky Wright bout. Yeah right!! Who wouldnt want to see that. Of course it would be a snoozefest but so what.!.!.! Are you kidding me? What am I missing? If it looks like a DUCK"ing", quacks like a "DUCK"ing, then it must be, right?!?!?!Comment

Winky wont make any money in a PPV event if there isnt a exciting fighter in front of him. And your going to put two fighters who are extremly cautious on a card you have to pay $50??? They better put Oscar, Ouma, Barrios , Barrera and Pacman in that card firstComment

Thats true also, only the purists would pay $50 to watch Hopkins vs. Wright.Originally posted by ottoevansWinky wont make any money in a PPV event if there isnt a exciting fighter in front of him. i agree that a hopkins vs. winky fight would not be a big money fight as far as ppv goes . both are great fighters and are at the top of the p4p rankings but both of their styles are not appealing to the average fan . hopkins did not get a big pay day until he fought tito and oscar who are huge stars and are big when it comes to ppv just like winky did not get paid until he fought tito .they would both make more money fighting tito again i know they both beat him convincingly but this is the way the buisness side of boxing works tito, dlh, morales, pac ect. are the big money makers for hbo ppv because of their styles . i don't know if they would risk putting winky vs. hopkins on a ppv card that will loose money ..Comment

i dont think hopkins is ducking winky just trying to "punish" him in a way by not letting winky get a big fight cause hopkisn lsot an easy 20M cause tito lostComment

I can't see how, Bernard is ducking Winky. As others in this topic have said and as Hopkins said, "there's not enough money in it". I dont think that can be put anymore plainly bro. The deep boxing fans know Winky and they know how talented he is. Outside of that group, who knows Winky? He doesn't knock people out on a fight by fight basis, does he? If he did, then he could get some mainstream appeal outside of deep boxing fans and in with the casual fans and outside of that group. But he doesn't, so the interest isn't there.
The better fight is gonna be for Hopkins to fight a light heavyweight holding a title. If not for the money, then for his legacy. What would a win against Winky Wright do for him at this point in his career? You'd have even more people talking about how he only beats fighters coming up in weight. Doesn't sound like a plus to me. How many years has it been now, that people wanted to see Hopkins fight a heavier fighter? If it's not one thing, I guess it's the other. I think peeps should let him fight the heavier title holder and silence some of the critics for a while.Comment
