Did Martinez bite off more then he could chew fighting Pavlik?

Hopkins was never open for the right hand, Pavlik rarely threw it because of that and when he did, he got punished for it.

True but what if Kelly can't find the range with his jab ? i know, he's screwed. Williams was able to land on Martinez cosistently but Pavlik is twice as slow as Paul is. I see Martinez timing him alot better and being able to fight at his pace more.

Martinez is gonna whip Kelly Pavlik's slow ass. A 44 year old Bernard Hopkins made him look slow. That's just sad.

I'm sorry but Paul Williams is a much better fighter, imo, than Kelly Pavlik is. This fight will be a piece of cake for Martinez... especially in comparison to the Williams fight.

After Martinez humiliates Pavlik, I expect to see a Martinez-Williams rematch.

Pavlik's style would never have been effective against someone like Hopkins. Not only that, but Hopkins isn't shot yet. In the fight before Pavlik, Hopkins held his own against Calzaghe (a fighter with very high hand-speed and work rate), even landing many of the more solid shots and winning on points in the opinion of many viewers.

It's just not right to compare Martinez and Hopkins. For starters, Hopkins has one of the best chins across all weight divisions, and he's one of the best tactical fighters of all time. Martinez can win, but he has to play a lot more safely than Hopkins to do so.

I don't think so, Martinez is going to tool Pavlik IMO.

you realize he only had a month's time to train for the fight right? He's gonna have a full training camp for this one and he's gonna lay down the pain on Pavlik. Pavlik can't move, he's too slow, all he's got is that right hand. Nard took his heart and soul.

Martinez could befuddle Pavlik if he boxes but he looks like he likes a tear up though. It will be interesting whichever way he approaches the fight

Martinez is wayyyyy smaller then Hopkins, doesnt hit as hard and isnt as slick.

I dont see Martinez hurting him at all. I also cant see Martinez having any answers for Pavliks jab. I think the power factor is what will do Martinez in.
We have to see if he can avoid Pavlik's punches with enough frequency and if he can handle what ones he gets hit with which he will at some point.

Keep in mind that Sergio does not have to hurt Pavlik at all to win this fight, he just has to win a boxing match......and the judges have to agree with what happens in the ring though that is a whole other issue.
