I've noticed on some other boxing forums out there you could talk about, there's a lot of ****phobia used in "smack talk". Even Hasim Rahman wasn't averse to using "gay" as a put-down (I take it you saw his studio bust-up with Lennox, right?)
Thankfully this forum has to be the most intelligent and reasoned boxing forum I've ever come across. Sure, I had a moan about the "leech" thing, but here people really wanna talk - and talk properly - about boxing.
But the question remains... why are there no gay boxers? Or known gay boxers? And if they were, what sort of reception would they get? And just why did Lennox get all those rumours?
Michele Aboro is gay. I don't know if she's boxing now but she used to be. A couple months ago I saw a docu about her on the Dutch television. She said she's kicked out by Universum because she doesn't want to do the "feminine stuff" like being in the Playboy. I think it's all about image. The male boxers must pretend to be macho's and the female boxers must pretend to be playboy-girls to get the guys hot.
It is pitty that male and female boxers are influenced by the macho image in the boxing world. I think Michele Aboro is not the only one with ****sexual orientation in the boxing world. The ****sexual boxers are probably afraid to say it in public because of their career. A male boxer need a lot of balls and a female boxer a lot of **** to break out this anxiety and to be free. I don't mean that all ****sexual boxers have to say in public what their sexual orientation are. It's up to them to choose to say it or to keep it private.
