Why are there no gay boxers?

I've noticed on some other boxing forums out there you could talk about, there's a lot of ****phobia used in "smack talk". Even Hasim Rahman wasn't averse to using "gay" as a put-down (I take it you saw his studio bust-up with Lennox, right?)

Thankfully this forum has to be the most intelligent and reasoned boxing forum I've ever come across. Sure, I had a moan about the "leech" thing, but here people really wanna talk - and talk properly - about boxing.

But the question remains... why are there no gay boxers? Or known gay boxers? And if they were, what sort of reception would they get? And just why did Lennox get all those rumours?

1/30 people are gay. Theres not a lot in the boxing world because when you are gay. You tend to lean on the feminine side. Beating the **** out of the other guy would not attract the gay community. I'd think they'd rather shop than train.

John Ruiz is a ****sexual. Why the hell do you think he clinches so much?!? It's cuz the other guy has his shirt off and could not resist to rub his body onto the sweaty muscular physique of his opponents.

I use the word gay all the time, I tell my friends there gay etc. I use it like I use the word "the". Although politically incorrect I don't mean any harm by it. I am a pretty thoughtful *******, I think gay marriage should be allowed( civil unions are fine by me as well) and a constitutional ********* to take away peoples rights is absolutley ridiculous(although it was an amazing poltical manuever that historians will be talking about for years..KArl Rove). Point is that I am not going to stop calling people gay and on the same token I refuse to persecute someone because of how they lie down/or get off. I think it's great if someone gets off I could give a **** who its with...Id rather see someone getting off than just sitting there watching all the hetros have good "proper" fun. This post should at least expose a few *** hatters...(oh *** is another word I use alot and don't mean anything by).

As for the reception a gay fighter would recieve...hmmm. We live in for the most part a ****phobic society...granted we are gradually changing but like I said its gradual. Just like the blacks and the civil rights act it takes time for ignorance to past. Hell there are still segregated proms in places like Georgia-it will never be totally cool. I personally could care less about who Lennox LEwis was ****ing as long as he was taking care of business in the ring...why would someone care??? Oh I know maybe the bible....truth or fairy tale you make the call...I will say this though-I refuse to persecute gays and try and say that they are immorral or whatever...I will take that to my grave and if I ever get a chance to go see the big guy up above-Ill explain to him that his beloved book got distorted some where along the way..if he says that it didn't and the Jerry Fallwells/Jimmy Swaggert/Gary Bauers of the world had the correct interpretation...then I will happily tell god to send me straight to hell!

Sorry for going crazy here, I just get a little excited sometime.

You'd think with prejudice it would inspire some ****sexuals to turn to violence, and then into boxing... just law of averages. But it seems not.

You're right, Scap, let's see if there's haters coming out. (No pun intended)

...there may not be any gay boxers but there are plenty of gay threads created just for the sake of getting up ones post count in order to download fights.
