If the fight materializes, both fighters should be drug tested as Mayweather wanted in the aborted Pacquiao fight since Golden Boy Promotions has adopted the Mayweather rule.

Let's see if GBP requires the drug testing.

Let's see if any of them will say that they got drained by blood test that is why they lost the fight.

I think we may well all be being scammed here it was consideration that I felt could be going on when I first heard of the Marquez Khan fight particularly when the Hatton Marquez fight was being talked about just before. There is no question and Golden Boy don't want Khan to fight Maidana so how do you get out of the mandatory without making Khan look like a *****? You "look" like you are fighting a better fighter(Marquez) tie up the mandatory Maidana into a contract where you have a 2 to 3 fight space by leveraging Golden Boys and HBO's influence then set him up with fights where he can lose (Maidana Cayo being the first of these) that way Khan may never have to fight him. Once Maidana has been contractually tied up surprise surprise fellow Golden Boy fighter Marquez starts getting cold feet. If the fight falls out of bed "brave" Khan who wanted to fight Marquez is left without an opponent and is now in a position to take on a feather fisted made to order opponent completely consistent with his padded and media controled and hyped career so far . Both Khan and Marquez get loads of free publicity which is great as far as Golden Boy is concerned and Khan is completely off the hook with Maidana. How convenient.
Hatton has very strong commercial ties to Golden Boy he was supposedly in negotiations with Marquezfor a fight . Surely a Khan Marquez fight would throw a spanner in the works for any Hatton Golden Boy future deals. That never felt right to me.
Don't be surprised if the Marquez Khan fight falls out of bed and we see Khan take another made to order opponent for his US debut and maybe a series of them. In the meant time watch Maidaina run the gauntlet fighting tough challengers who are good boxers.
Surely tyeing up a deal when both fighters that are in your stable (Khan and Marquez) has to be a lot easier to do than getting a fighter to relinquish his mandatory rights? They manage to get the outsider Maidana tied up but can't get their own **** together at Golden Boy. It stinks, the whole thing stinks.I see the real possibility that Marquez ends up fighting Hatton and Khan fighting someone who suits him down to the ground. We may well all be being played and scammed.

JMM is my boy, so this is sad to hear.

I know people have posted saying it's JMM's call, but let's be honest, Golden Boy want him to take this fight to elevate Khan, and when your promoter is pushing for this and putting their time into it, what can JMM do?

They're exploiting the fact that he never backs down and always pushes himself. So they've deliberately made this mis-match simply to promote Khan.

But he'll always be a legend, and Khan will never be the warrior he is.

That presupposes there was a real intention that Golden Boy wanted this fight to be stepping stone for Khan. There is a real possibility that this is a cynical marketing ploy by Golden Boy to mainly promote Khan and dispose of the mandatory Maidana where Marquez has been asked to play a role. Then they both fight different fighters.

You're right that could be the case. But I feel Marquez is too made for Khan for it not be made.

His inabaility to retain his speed and sharpness at 142 means at 140 he'll be little different. Khan's height and reach and speed will be too much.

And of course Marquez is a name, his last fight was against FMJ, so his name is out there somewhat to even the casual fans. It's a fight which looks good, will get promoted well, and which has little risk for Khan.

There's a tailor-made opponent in Marquez, so I can't see them backing away from it for the U.S. debut to instead fight someone like Malignaggi.

Bradley and others clearly aren't an option for the same reason that Khan's ducking Maidana. It's too dangerous.

At 135 then naturally this would never get made as Marquez is far too dangerous. But at 140 I can only see it happening. I do hope you're right though, I don't want to see it happen.

GBP is more worried of earning lots of cash than making a good matchup or being fair to their fighters. It also metions that there is a deal for Maidana to postpone atleast 2 or 3 fights to get the shot. They are gonna keep mathching Maidana till he loses or somebody else will take the challenge.

They are really sidestepping Maidana and tells you alot about Khan. Marquez has a good chance but he is again the smaller older fighter comming in to the match
