Everyone that is saying JMM needs to fight Hatton needs a reality check. Hatton is walking around about 185 pounds or better and is probably 6 months or more away from fighting. And with his miserable showing in the Floyd fight, HBO is not gonna buy JMM against just anybody. So if he wants to fight, there are only certain opponents HBO will buy him against.

I've come to understand that GBP focuses more on "event" promotion than they do "individual fighter" promotion. They want to make the biggest fights they can, regardless of who wins and who loses. (I dont necessarily agree 100% with that philosophy, but I understand what they are doing. It's really no different that Arum "feeding" Diaz, Cotto, and Clottey to Pac) The upside of that for fans is that some great "pick em" type matchups will get made. The downside is that your favorite fighter (whomever that may be) might not always get put in the kind of fights that favor them.

And for every person that thinks JMM is being "fed" to Khan, theres another person scratching their head wondering why GBP would sign Khan and then immediately "feed him" to JMM. What that tells you is that its a damn good matchup and an interesting fight to say the least.

It is not a good match up for JMM. I am sorry I am going to have to disagree... They are feeding JMM to Khan... Is also obvious that Golden boy want Khan to win... And, Hatton maybe walking around 180 but he will fight again. And, HBO will buy that fight... HBO recycles fighters... All you have to do is look at JMM legs at 135 to know that he does not belong at 140. Especially against a young, big, fast, skilled fighter like Khan... GBP is feeding JMM to Khan... Andybody who is picking JMM are going by what he did to Pac 2yrs ago 10lbs lower...

So you think Cotto was fed to Pacquiao?

This is a good fight for JMM, He would get paid handsomely and he isnt going to get KO but i still didnt like the way schafer seem to be talking about Khan and other fights like they're feeding JMM to him, Yes JMM is 36 and a lightweight but this wouldnt be the first time an older fighter/shopworn fighter would be thrown in against a younger more hyped fighter.

That how promoters work, They recently throw Valuev in with Haye knowing Haye would be more charismatic and have the looks to make them more money than Valuev, And Top rank/Arum has been doing the samething for years.....Am not suprised at all.

JMM has to take some of the blame for this based on his decisions. He could have gone back down to 135 and fought Katsidis if he wanted an easier fight, but he chose not to do that.

So if he's going to stay at 140 then he has to fight one of the good fighters there.

Correct. He was offered the title defense with Katsidis but #1 didnt want to go back to 135, and #2 he didnt like the money.

99% of fighters dont like to take pay cuts. JMM has to go from making $4 million back to making 25% of that (or less). Its not going to be easy to find a fight he will accept.

I dont think you can make the Valuev/Haye comparison because Valuev and Haye each had different promoters. Nobody was "feeding" anyone to anyone. They just made a big fight, thats all.

And I dont think JMM is necessarily being "fed" to Khan. Its not like JMM has no chance in this fight. If he manages to land that uppercut on the inside, he can put Khan's lights out. The intangible for me in this matchup is that JMM can end the fight with one shot. Khan can't.

These are grown men we are talking about. They don't need their promoter to play cheerleader, or be in the fan club. They need them to make big fights, and maximize their earning potential. With Hatton on the shelf right now, the biggest $$$ fight out there for JMM is Khan. That's why it was offered.

A win Over Khan will sky rocket JMM's popularity first Mexican to hold titles of 4 weight division and making the JMM vs PAC plausible fighting @140lbs JrWW. Or will break him if he losses making PAC weight division hopping one of a kind in THIS generation.

Er, putting him in fights that earn him millions of dollars is a shame? I recall JMM calling out Mayweather after the Diaz fight. All GBP did was grant him his wish.

I thought Oscar stepping in to fight Pac when Marquez wanted a rematch was a bit pale, but obviously Pacquiao was never gonna take a trilogy bout with Marquez anyway.
