It is broke. I'm tired of seeing boxers clearly win a fight only to have the judges take it away from him.

Open scoring might not be the answer, but the current system needs changing. Nobody is doing a single thing to try and reduce the number of robberies that happen. Something needs to change.

I can tell you a handful of fights where open scoring would've been awesome.

        Williams-Martinez
        Cotto-Clottey
        Diaz-Malinaggi
        DLH-Mayweather
        All Hopkins fights.

Fights where one guy is not being active enough. Sometimes hearing that you're down by 1 or 2 rounds will make you more active.

There's plenty of fights where it wouldn't have done so well though.

Open scoring is great IMO, sometimes you have to KNOW to actuallly know, I realize you guys are like "WTF does that mean?" and it's simple, sometimes your corner knows you down but they don't officially know it, with open scoring they KNOW you down and you need to come back. in DeMarco's case he had a team of people who knew enough of him to know that with or without open scoring he wasn't going to last in front of Valero, it was pointless at that point and they knew that he himself wouldn't have given up so his corner stops it out of care and concern for his health rather than because they heard the scores and got psyched out, I think with or without the open scoring they would have stopped it when they did because their fighter was no longer equally competitive and was recieving massive shots and not giving them back the same way..

honestly open scoring is good because it's yet another mental obstacle in Boxing, sometimes knowing your up on the official cards will make you run and you'd lose because you didn't return the blaze, it happened to Oscar De La Hoya WITHOUT open scoring against Trinidad. honestly it's all about the strength a Boxer possess mentally, knowing you're up can be good for you and bad for you..

quick question, do you think if there was open scoring in these 2 bouts that Jermain Taylor would have UD both Carl Froch an Arthur Abraham?

I agree with the TS. That rules is totally wrong.

More than likely it discourage the fighter and it takes the drama if the fight o the full 12. When the results ae annouce theres no surprise or anythng!!!

That rule does more bad than good!!!

Yeah, that is a puzzling rule. The only thing I can think it's for is to prevent those accidentally-on purpose headbutts that occur where some guys sneakily use their head as a weapon.

I don't think last night, DeMarco's goal was to sc**** Valero with an elbow though.

It seems to me they should judge point deductions and give them on a case by case basis.

I think it discourages the fighter who is behind more than motivates him.IMO I think open scoring should be eliminated.it takes away from the fight & suspense.what if the guy who is clearly winning is behind because of poor judging? How does he respond? Too many problems in my eyes & takes some of the drama away from the fight.
Opening scoring is horrible. Especially during a round when the fighters are fighting!

I don't care for open scoring either BUT I loved that the judges didn't have their heads up their asses last night...

i agree. The open scoring kinda ruined both fights. I think what should do is if they want want to have open scoring, just announce the scores at the middle of the fight. lets say on a 12 rounder, the scores will be announced once after the sixth round.
