    I just rewatched it.

What an incredible fight. Tito was such a beast.

I used to think Cotto/Tito prime for prime would be a good fight at 47, but I must've forgot how good Trinidad was.

I think he would blast Cotto out of there within 8.

This is a drunk repy. I have no idea who I'm replying to directly, but take this as an indirecct post. Oscar beat Vargas mentally before and after the fight. Vargas put everything into this fight. He trained harder than ever, and even juiced. Larry Merchant said it best: "He may have had a 6 pack but not on his chin." He got schooled by one of the greatest fighterst of all time. His claim to fame was CALLING OUT AND TRASH TALKIG A LEGEND. To be honest, Vargas is lucky DE LA HOYA GAVE HIM A FIGHT. Without De La Hoya there is no Vargas, and honestly, Vargas isn't all that skilled. Yeah, he can beat the average boxer, but when it comes to Skilled top tier guys, Vargas doesn't get mentioned. Oscar is a top 20 all time, and Vargas is just a guy that talked a lot of good **** to get his shot in a big fight. He owes Oscar his life for even steppoing in the ring with Vargas, because honestly, Vargas wasn't fit to lit the bird **** from the tongue of oscar's boot.

Combination of both beatings, other tough fights (Wright, Quartey) in a short period of time, and injuries.

But the Tito fight did the most damage to him.

Fernando Vargas was the cause of his own downfall, BOTH Trinidad and Oscars punches helped but in the end it was Vargas's inability to regain the needed mental stability it required to bounce back from such a defecit, something inside of him changed for the worse in terms of his Boxing life and it showed, mentally he wasn't the same and it affected him physically, this is how guys like Cotto can come back so strong because they have that mental stability, Vargas didn't have that and had he had that even with those losses he could have still been a player to this day, problem is that he didn't..

Vargas's claim to fame is emerging from the olympics and taking on and beating top opposition from an early start to his professional career.

Vargas beat Ike Quartey a hell of alot more convincingly than De La Hoya ever did.He fought and beat Winky Wright - a guy who De La Hoya spent years ducking and avoiding.

Post's like this prove that you don't know a damn thing about the sport of boxing.De La Hoya isn't even in the top 20 list of the last thirty years...let alone of all time.

And stop pretending to be drunk over the internet.

LMAO at Cotto "coming back strong".

Vargas suffered serious back injuries post Trinidad which also proved detrimental to his career.

Cotto didn't come back strong? after losing to plastercheato he wins a belt and beats Clottey, the guy who the supposed #1 pound for pound king is fighting next, the same king Cotto fought in his very last fight and what does Cotto do next? tune up? no, easy fight? no he goes straight for another champion in a whole new pool of adversity, he could have fallen off after his 1st loss, a lot of guys fight lower tier Boxers to rebound from losses but Cotto only faced solid competition... I say that to ask this, what the **** is so funny about me saying "Cotto coming back strong" when that's exactly what he did?

Injuries play a BIG part so I can definitely understand that, he wasn't injured for ALL of the post Trinidad fights though and honestly there just hit a time where he couldn't make the weight no more, he once lost 100 pounds to STILL weigh like 168 which I MUST say is amazing IMO, that's awesome that he had that tenacity to do that but still his mind set wasn't correct, he was no longer a top, active fighter and didn't show the mental dedication to achieve that, injury or not..

His management ruined him by squaring him off vs Tito at 22.
