Say what?
And for the record, height and weight doesn't win fights alone...if that was the case everyone tall would do great in boxing...is Bernard supposed to have control over the height of his opponents?
Hopkins weighed 160 or under for every fight since from 1993 until 2006...and in some fights in the late 150's...Comment

Hatton didn't come down from 200 lbs. Right now he's the heaviest he's ever been and he's at 175 lbs.Comment

From 1988-1992 he fought once as a lhw and around 21 times as a smw before moving down to mw.Say what?

I agree with you height and weight does not win fights alone, but Hopkins obviously think it plays a significant factor. It couldnt of been easy going for a 6'1 fighter stepping on the scales at 175 lbs to stepping on them at 160 lbs.
Thats true but come fight night he was back up to at least 169 lbs.
Off topic: Im glad you changed you Avatar as well, that Bhop in full Philly style bondage gear was seriously shocking, lolLast edited by General Zod; 01-20-2010, 09:26 AM.Comment

You don't know that though...once he trains hard and sweats down he may be a middleweight and he may walk around higher...From 1988-1992 he fought once as a lhw and around 21 times as a smw before moving down to mw.

Tommy Hearns might have walked around at MW or higher, yet he fought at WW...and wat about Paul Williams who's 6'3 fighting at WW???
You have the fight night weights of Bernard for multiple fights?
If you can make the weight, you can fight there...end of story...
And you know you liked my avatar...lolComment

I think it was in a Ring Magazine interview that Hopkins said even he was surprised that he was able to make the mw limit for as long as he did.
Tommy Hearns fought during the era of same day weigh ins when he stepped into the ring he was around 147 lbs. I think Williams made his pro debut at mw before moving down to jmw and then ww. But it is obvious that he did it to get a size advantage over his opponents, come fight night he would be around 165.
Only a few he was 169 lbs against dlh and around 172 for the Taylor fights.
Compare him to Marvin Hagler who stepped in the ring weighing around 160 lbs
Of course

here is the hopkins quote from ring mag:
"If they knew what I had to go through all those years to stay at middleweight and rack up those 20 defenses, I'd get a blue ribbon for that. If they knew how disciplined I had to be through all those years, at 6'1" with a 36-inch waist, built like a wide receiver, the question should have been: How in the hell has Bernard been able to stay at 160?"Comment
