There may be some serious truth to what you are saying. A short while ago, AFTER the quake, Shaefer makes a statement that Floyd will choose an opponent in the next 3 days, and the people will be pleased.... I have no doubt in my mind that Shaefer used the Earthquake tragedy as an opportunity to take Berto out of the picture.

If Berto were to beat Mosley itd be a disaster for GBP because Al Haymo will not match Berto and Mayweather. Plus there is just too much money on a Mosley/Mayweather bout to pass up.

Earthquake presented an opportunity and GBP seized it. Just hope Berto is ok with it.

You have a good point of view and this is why I post these types of threads to get some logical debate in here. But the parts of your post I bolded I am going to answer here.

There was enough of a demand and history to make a viable match up between himself and JMM and putting it in a Dallas setting where there are alot of Mexican fans. I think it would have been a good option and a chip to use at the bargaining table.

The drug test backfired well it depends on how you look at it. Yes it caused the fight to fall through and Floyd may have missed out on a BIG payday for now. But he did gain leverage in the eys of the public and as I stated.

IF he signs the fight to me there is no other option and if this fight falls through then he will LOOK TERRIBLE.....HE CANNOT LET THE FIGHT WITH MOSLEY GO SOUR....Lefty

His last three moves have been genius IMO. He has been shaping this fight from the very begining.

1) His first come back fight he takes on JMM. People call him a cherry picker amongst other things. This was done for one reason to obtain better bargaining leverage at the negotiations table. He takes out JMM in pretty easy fashion thus eliminating a public demand for a PAC vs JMM III.

2) He demands RANDOM TESTING for the fight with PAC on 3/13. When PAC made it a bigger thing than originally intended he puts an * next to PACS name in many of the common fans eyes. Thus the only fighter who is possibly compared to him as the BEST OF THIS ERA in many people eyes may have cheated. Even if he didn't walking away from 40 million in comparision to just giving blood RAISED some eyebrows.

3) He keeps his demand for RANDOM TESTING and says he is going to use it in every fight going forward to "CLEAN UP BOXING" PAC announces a fight with Clottey anther TOP RANK promoted fighter for the 3/13 date. NO SUCH TESTING is required. People are leaning back towards PAC and a good fight Floyd is left in limbo with out a dance partner. (no pun intended)

4) 1/18/09 Berto with draws from match with Mosley for Jan 30th date. Now possible match up between Floyd and Mosley lands in Floyds lap. Whether it goes down on March 13th or May1st undecided. But he puts the demand out there for RANDOM DRUG TEST with an admitted ROID user. (whether he knew about it or not he did admit it sorry Shane) Floyd can ink this deal he goes one up on Manny and also eliminates another potential opponent for Manny post his 3/13 date and inches himself a little closer to cornering Manny and shifting momentum back to GBP and himself at the negotiations table.

After today, I have nothing else to say about Pacquiao, blood test, Arum, PED's, milkshakes, excuses, etc...

When I watch and follow boxing and I see a guy rising in the rankings, weight, popularity. There comes a time when they face the best. Our friend Mayweather has been accused of not facing the best ever since he climbed to welterweight. But for the first time, I can finally understand why fans hate Floyd, they hate him cause he didn't fight the guy they wanted him to fight at the time they wanted him to fight him.

This is a Eureka moment because that is exactly how I feel about Pacquiao right now. I feel like he is the King of fighting B and even C level opponents. What is Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto to me? Former A level fighters who at the time they fought Pac, B-C level fighters.

With Mayweather he had a chance to finally fight an A level opponent who is actually considered the best. He scratched that to take on yet another B level guy in Clottey. Yea!! We're so excited.......not.

So the reality is, if Pac will not fight Floyd Mayweather....then he is Floyd Mayweather, which is a guy who only takes fights he knows he will win.

That is until now..........Floyd is fighting Mosley, and as fans we got to give Floyd credit for going after Pac and Shane when he clearly could of found a B-C level guy instead.

I think this post is a bit harsh on PAC but if the fight does not happen as I said 20 years from now all people will remember it was a shame because Manny wouldn;t agree to a blood test. They will forget about all the little things that transpired leading up the negotiations and remember the fact that he walked away from 40 million because he wouldn;t give blood....Like I said before it puts an * next to his name in the eyes of the common fan. Your statements could be true if Pacquiao is now retired. But no, that is why time is needed to methodically fight one by one. If anyone, Pacquiao isn't the right person to accuse of someone "ducking" anyone.....he has gone 7 weight division levels.

The fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao can still materialize by the end of the year.

If you look at his resumé, his records speaks for itself. He didn't duck anyone and in fact "conquering more" and challenging anyone worthy in his way towards his goal of fighting the best within his range (weight).

Nobody. Nobody can say that against Pacquiao. When he retires then criticism can now legitimately come up. But introspectively, how can anyone find fault in his career?
