Cotto was #2. I'll take his word on weather or not he was drained (he said he felt great.) If you beat a ranked fighter, its very easy to argue that you took their rank.
You included fighters that haven't fought ANYONE in that weight class in YEARS. How ironic that you say beating the #2 guy doesn't make you #2, but beating a ****ing LIGHTWEIGHT makes you #2!! lol
As for beating number 2 and becoming number 2, doesn't work that way. You work your way up in in the rankings by beating a collection of people in the division. You don't just jump up to number 2, because you beat the ranked 2 guy. You only skip everyone if you beat the man in the division, and thereby become the man in the division.Comment

Now that most of us agree that PAC, Clottey, Shane and Berto are 4 of the TOP 5 at WW ...We should be very excited about these two fights coming up in the next 3 months...LeftyComment

You could paraphrase it for Pacquiao and ask if he shouldn't fight at Welter first before being in such a list, but anyways, for what it's worth:
1. Mayweather
2. Pacquiao
3. Cotto
4. Mosley
Obviously those four are all very close, and everyone has question marks about their ranks.
5. Clottey or Berto
Williams is not a welterweight at the moment for me, if he'd be, I would have no idea on how to rank him, to be honest.Comment

How are you going to critique my list but then put Manny at #2 when he has yet to fight a true WW without draining them? Get the **** out of here. Fighting Cotto doesn't make you the number 2 WW in the division. As for Floyd and P-Will both are WW champs and are back in the division, so they will be ranked highly in my eyes.
you mean were or former.Comment

Beating a lightweight didn't make Floyd number 2, his inactivity has made him #2 to Shane, who beat the man who was in the top stop after Floyd left. P-Wil did not leave WW by choice, if you remember he was frozen out by the likes of Cotto, Berto, Shane, and MArgarito. If he says he is back in at 147 he is automatically a #3 in my opinion, because of his body of work in the division compared to those not named Shane and Floyd. IF we include MArgo he is over both Manny and Cotto because Cotto's only WW fight was Cotto, the same Cotto who was destoryed by Margo. That leaves Manny at 5, which is more than fair considering the weight stipulations he put on a WW fight. If you take Margo out, I"ll move Manny up to 4.

2. Pacquiao (he beat Cotto even if it was at 145)
3. Mayweather (purely on skills on paper he may be #1 but for me he has to prove it)
4. Cotto (if the ranking were on pure guts he would be my #1)
5. Clottey, Berto or Margarito (all are very close and have faults but are tough fighters)
Williams is not a WW and to me is a TOP 5 JMW/MW and should stay at 154 or above...LeftyComment
