Anyone saying Cotto 'was never that good' obviously has only been watching boxing for the past 5 minutes.

He was fed easy Ws throughout his career. Then when he became a champ, there was no way to avoid a tough fight. He was the WW champ without fighting significant people. So the holes in his game were never shown.

Then came Mosley. Mosley showed that Cotto can't take one to the chin. Then people started looking back and saw that it was evident in his previous fights as well.

Then came Margarito. Margarito showed that Cotto can't take constant pressure. In short he is a head-case.

Then came Clottey. Many people believed Cotto-Marg was just a fluke. Clottey proved that it wasn't. Albeit he lost.

Then came Pacquiao. He was basically everything Cotto shouldn't fight all wrapped into one. Pacquiao had speed, power, and a constant in your face pressure. Thus Cotto crumbled to a smaller guy and ultimately ruined himself.

He took on fights and never tried to figure out how to get better. What did I do wrong. How can I get better even though I won. It has nothing to do with Arum. It's all Cotto's fault for not getting better, not trying to strengthen his weakness, or make those holes in his game smaller. Cotto's image is "i'm a warrior", he made it to where he can't take the easy fights.

It's Cotto's fault. Hopefully he can evolve and make a comeback.
Although I agree with a lot of what's in this post..

Mosley didn't prove that Cotto couldn't take one to the chin..I think that's ass backwards..if anything ..Cotto proved that he had a VERY SOLID chin after being called "Chinny" and "Glass Jaw" because he was hurt a few times at jr Welterweight..

Randall Bailey (140) and Shane Mosley (147) were the 2 most powerful hitters to hit Cotto FLUSH and he didn't even flinch..he did cruise the final rounds against Mosley..I think it was more of a confidence mixed with versatility since from like the 6th round Mosley tried to switch it up as well by getting on his toes and moving around more..Cotto tried to show something different as well..and he won atleast 2 of those 4 final rounds even retreating..

as far as the Clottey fight..it would have looked A LOT different if it wasn't for that gash..not much can be done to break Clottey's defense as we've all seen..but it was pretty evident..that many of those right hands that were landing were obviously shots that Cotto couldn't see coming..he even kept shaking the blood from his eye in round 5..and got tagged with another right..it would've still been close..but Cotto wouldn't have gotten hit as much if it weren't for that cut..

By the way, your hate will not change the way Arum is. He will be a billionaire as he is. Let him promote whatever he wanted to have. For us fans, its for us to ENJOY if you don't like arum then you have the GBP fighters fair enough. But i can guarantee you that cotto is not ruined. He is one of my favorite fighter. You need to accept that every hero's success, there will always be failure.

        Peace!
        Yeah...it is a great post.

Cotto had a chance at greatness (imagine if Cotto beat Pacquiao) and actually earned in one night something he'd only get fighting 2 or 3 hard fights. Now he's looking at another big payday with a Margarito or a Mosley rematch somewhere in the near future. His only legit loss was against the #1 P4P fighter in the world, and despite this brutal loss, even Mayweather isn't keen to get in the ring with him. How is that seen as ruining a fighter?

I can also see some sense in this post. As i diehard Cotto fan, i do not put the blinders on. i see Cotto's attitude and pride problem. They guy has too much pride to ask for guidance from a real trainer that will make him really bust his ass training.

But Cotto don't want nobody "bossing " him around...prideful ***. He pisses me off sometimes, wasting what could be raw beastly natural talent to be evoled and refined....wasting away.

He keeps this **** up and I'm looking for a new hero. I'm waiting for him to recover from his loss and see what he does about the trainer issue. In the meatime, i remain a loyal Cotto fan. Critical, honest as i can be, but loyal.

That's his job. Ever notice how some of these fighters say their promoter loves them? They are so ******ed.

Arum didnt ruin his career he got the right fights apart from pacquiao he shoulda fought one more fight before that just to have extra confidence going into Pac fight. Arum only damage Cotto health by wanting his two highest earning boxers to fight at a time which suited him

I'm going to MSG for whatever comeback fight he has. Nothing but respect and admiration for Miguel. I think his last fight at MSG will be something special.
I went to his fight at MSG against SSM, first it was a great fight, close fight, they went toe to toe until the end and the crowd was awsome. When you are in tha environment and everyone is yelling, screaming and celebrating is a very great experience. You will enjoy it very much.

What ruined Cotto was how stubborn he is. He hit a ceiling and didn't take the necessary measures to improve. That's on him, not Arum.

I think Arum did fine with him.
