In respect to this thread I was strictly talking about the Collazo fight. I agree with you 100% about the Urango fight I even made a thread about it

Berto dancing and holding his way in a snoozefest

The same would need to be said about Andre Ward when he fought Edison Miranda too Silencers....I also made a thread about that fight....

Ward Held, Elbow'd and Shoved His Way To Victory...

These two threads were posted by myself back when the fights happened I was not given too much thought back then but I am bringing them up to the light now...Check them out let me knw if I was off base about those fights now...Lefty
As I said in the other thread, you were right. Berto did excessive holding against Urango and Ward did the same against Miranda.

While Pavlik got hit a lot, he showed that he could shorten up his punched and fight on the inside, short uppercuts and nice body shots were part of his arsenal in there. Yeah his defense was bad but there were positives there as well.

Pavlik was slow as ish my man. That upper cut was so slow anyone who gets hit with it deserves to get hit plain and simple. Pavlik was always a good inside fighter IMO he can **** to the body and when he got close up on you he learned how to create space with his jab forhis straight right hand. pavlik is not a guy who holds excessively nor does he use his head....I think he needs a few fights this year to get back in the game and gain an interest to set himself up for a big fight...Maybe Williams sometime in 2010....Lefty

Pavlik was never a speedster, never will be but that doesn't mean he didn't do good work on the inside.

And for sure he has to be more active against better opponents, his opponents this year have left quite a lot to be desired.

He has not fought anyone worth mentioning since JT Silencers...Back to the topic at hand the clinch in the fights between JT and Pavlik was clearly warranted to me Smoger would have not been naied to a cross had he stopped that fight...I am getting a segway into anothe thread BTW fellas....Lefty

What I think, is that if you allow clinching, you should allow pushing off. Makes no sense that guys can excessively hold, but if the guy getting held pushes of to avoid the clinch, he gets warned.

Well he fought Hopkins after Taylor, I'm taking it you mean he hasn't beaten anyone worth mentioning since Taylor.

And Smoger would have definitely been justified had he stopped the Pavlik-Taylor 1 when Pavlik was badly hurt, Smoger made the right choice in letting Pavlik continue though.

At the time Pavlik fought Hopkins to me he was not relivant especially at MW. There was no titles on the line and Pavlik had everything to lose and nothing to gain except $$ in that fight....He would have been better off fighting AA or Sturm. Since he has took the MW title he has done nothing....Tome Smoger would have been justified in stopping the fight and I thought he should have hind site is 20/20 cause it turned out to be a great fight and Pavlik took the victory.....Hopkins to me is the worst when it come to illegal tatics holding and hitting, head butts grappling and wrestling all of the above that was a bad matchup for Kelly....Lefty

I don't have an issue with it as long as it isn't over the op.
