I seriously doubt Williams can make 147 without draining himself, the pictures of his weigh in against Martinez show that he's pretty filled out between 154 and 160. If it was so simple for him to make weight he wouldn't have insisted on the Martinez fight being at 160.

Williams weighed nearly 170 on fight night against Martinez. I think he'd be putting a lot of strain on his body to do it, which might cost him.

However, there are exceptions. Fighters like Calzaghe and Spinks would drop more than 20+ pounds to make weight and they turned out fine.

Wasn't PWill always doing this though? I mean he started out at MW so its not like his body has matured into a MW who can't afford to go down. he was always a MW would just had the rare ability of taking off and putting weight with no harmful effects......but that does not mean he is not still much bigger than these guys, I don't care if he makes 147 its still not fair in my opinion.

If Williams can fight at 154 or 160 then why doesn't he just stay there? He has the height and size for those weight classes.

The sad part about this is how he is being mismanaged. I mean he has no base. No weight class where he can force himself as a mandatory. How can the sanctioning bodies rank this young fella anywhere?

If he would have stuck to one weight class, he would have gotten the fights eventually. Now here he is in no-mans land again, torturing his body for some reason I cannot fathom.

His management team played the hype card, built him up to be some monster. He got shown to be human and vulnerable like everyone else so now they feel it is time to go to safer waters again.

This Kid could have been that monster, but his management team screwed him over big time. He should plant his feet at 154, 160 or 168...stay at one of them to acclimate his body to the weight and just fight.

Yeah, I think Steve Albert mentioned that.

I just brought those two names up because well, I was just watching a Calzaghe and Spinks fight.

I used the term exception because I don't think it's really healthy or possible for most fighters to drop that amount of weight and then go out and perform at a high level.

It's crazy how Williams can fluctuate in weight like that. Either way, I'd much rather see him at 154lbs and higher, than anything lower than that.
