Comments Thread For: Paul Williams Returning To 147 is Possible For 2010

If Paul Williams is unable to secure a big fight at 160 or 154, we shouldn't be surprised to see "The Punisher" head back down to 147-pounds. His promoter Dan Goossen told BoxingScene.com that a welterweight return for Paul Williams is a serious possibility for 2010. Williams last fought at welterweight when he knocked out Carlos Quintana in one round in June of 2008. He jumped to middleweight in his next fight. Williams' last four ring appearances have been at 154-pounds and above. Three of the four fights have been at middleweight. [Click Here To Read More]

I really doubt he can make 147 in a "healthy" matter, we will see, either way, beat their asses P.Will!

I want to see a Williams/Pavlik match up if it can still happen. Don't think ppl can blame Williams if it doesn't happen since Pavlik pulled out twice and it cost Williams and his camp time and expenses.

Williams needs to stop picking on the little guys and just make a permanent move to middleweight. There's a reason other welterweights avoid him; he's too damn tall.

How is he picking on little guys when he will be fighting at his weightclass of 147?

Didn't he leave the WW division because nobody would fight him in the first place? Unless I missed the part where someone is willing to fight him at WW, who the hell is he going to fight?

The only ww I see fighting him would be Clottey or possibly Mosely. Other than that no one is fighting him in that division. He needs to keep his big ass up at middleweight.

I like Paul, but it is almost like his team tried to use media intimidation to lure pavlik into a fight weakened and injured.

Suddenly Pavlik starts regaining his health and Paul wants back to 147 where it will be next to impossible for him to land a big fight?

I also think it was his team who pressured the sanctioning bodies into Making Pavlik fight before the end of December as Mandatory Defenses are usually only forced for once a year.

This traveling routine of playing your hand at different weight classes has failed in the past and will fail now. I think his team feel he got his bell rung a little too much against martinez and want to travel down again. Something ain't right.

I think he could maybe just maybe fight cotto at 147 or later at 154. Cotto is willing to fight anyone at anytime we know this
