Actually, if it was only a glancing blowq, but put Jones down, we have to assume that suddenly he has become very fragile, or the glove was loaded.

Since he got up, and defended himself very well, with practically every power punch picked off without getting through, showing that he was in full control of himself, it seemed to me, at the time, that it was a very premature stoppage, and, in fact, should not have been stopped.....then anyway.

I like Roy Jones, and I don't think we'll see another one, for years.....and years.

....i can see the headlines following the rematch now:

GREEN GLANCING BLOW PUTS JONES ON THE CANVAS FOR THE SECOND TIME, FIGHT IS STOPPED WHEN WOBBLY JONES DOESN'T THROW A PUNCH FOR 12 ROUNDS, BLAMES CHICKENS FOR LOSS

seriously who would have thought that at the twilight of jones career, his fans would be clamoring for a trilogy with a no name, c level cruiserweight....

Roy definitely looked nervous in the ring, he wasn't pacing back in forth like he normally does before the fight. But at the same time if he knew Green had illegal wraps why Roy fight with his hands low to even get caught with that punch? I know he's done that plenty of other fights but even when he fought TITO he was concernced with his power early on, and Roy fought with his hands up style similar to Winky's style. I'll watch the rematch if it happens, but I think he had rematch clauses with Johnson too and that fight never happenned.

I just found a few clips of Roy talking after the fight (while he was still in Australia) and a question about a rematch was brought up and Roy said he would like to fight Green again but "things will have to be done different".

He also said that when the ref stopped the fight, he was recovered and wished the ref (if he was going to stop it) would have stopped it sooner.

Since this is the first I've heard about the wraps, I'm assuming that's what he's talking about.

Was he trying to save face? Maybe, but finally seeing some footage from Roy himself, there may very well be something to the whole wrap thing.

Honestly, I don't think there will be a rematch but it's boxing so, no one really knows.

roy said in the interview where he was contemplating retirement that he didn't see the punch coming that put him down....green was right in front of him walking him down, and it wasn't like the punch came from a crazy angle, nor was it lightning fast....that should tell you right there that roy's reflexes are gone man, loaded gloves ain't gonna speed green up...retire jones...whats a rematch gonna prove...

Yeah, I saw that one too.

That's why I'm not sold on a rematch and honestly don't really want him to fight anymore period. He's got nothing left to prove.

But his fans have been saying that for years and here we are.

if his fans were real, they would call for his retirement, rather than selfishly call for him to make another fight and risk serious injury....i remember when ali, after taking a savage beating from holmes, had us fooled that he could come back against berbick...well you know the story...

                    You're quite right.

And this is pathetic. Roy Jones Jr., you've been a great champion, you're tarneshing your own legacy now. Don't end up like Tyson, please.

I can definitely agree the reflexes are gone there's no way he should of got hit from that shot and then say he never saw the punch coming. Dude never been the same since dropping the weight back down to LHW been saying that for years. I'am a fan for life, so I ll support what he does. But he should get his commentary job back and maybe become a trainer. I think he can still offer a lot to the sport.
