there's no doubt that roy can fight...but the point is...his time is passed....this was a c fighter, who was supposed to be a tuneup for hopkins...none of what you said explains how he let a slow cruiserweight nail him with his first shot....loaded gloves thats irrelevant because back in the day, a c fighter doesn't lay a glove on him....
he could have hit Roy with the same exact shot without the plaster and Roy wouldn't have been so phased but I'm SURE that didn't feel like a punch to Roy, it probably felt like a Louisville Slugger hit him.
also you act like Roy never been hit EVER before when Griffin was tagging him the 1st time, Toney caught him, Bernard too and just about most of those fights he had he got tagged he was just not hit with a bat and he's aged so to never get hit with a bat back then to today getting hit with a bat behind the head as an older, slower version of yourself? that's murder right there..
Roy on his WORST day is better than most guys out here, his style can't be duplicated which is why he can still fight successfully in that way to this day. Bernard is just a **** talker, he backed Roy now he backed out on Roy because in his mind Pink is an easier fight, now that he knows Pink cheats he can tag along Naazim and instead of fighting the harder opponent in Jones for less reward he fights the lesser fighter in Pink for a title, basically doing the same **** he's bashed Floyd for doing..Comment

i can speak for myself and for the record, i would take the disqualification, tell them they can keep the 4 mil and get the f**k outta there...why? i'm ****ed either way because i have a cement gloved cruiserweight whose looking to use me as a stepping stone to stardom, and i have a stadium full of fans who don't give a **** about me either....
you would have walked away a loser anyway by DQ with no fight but Roy thought he could still hit him not knowing how bad it would be to take those plastered hits, his competitive mind didn'tallow him to try and look for a way out of the fight, he didn't just write himself off he decided to play hardball because if he don't fight he losses, if he DOES fight he takes a BIG chance to lose but he still has an avenue open to win and an avenue even THAT small is enough to get a man who is so confident in himself as Roy Jones Jr is to give it a shot. that fight was no indication of what Roy has left, if you give Danny Pink ANY credit for that fight knowing what you now know you're crazy..Last edited by crillz; 12-24-2009, 03:07 PM.Comment

Okay, a DQ and looking like a puss is okay but what about the losing near 4 million he stood to make with the fight? Roy preserved the fight and went ahead with it thinking he would win anyways and would have peobably never mentioned it again. It kinda makes sense now that Danny Green somehow predicted that if he his Roy with 'the right punch' , he was going to sleep. In hindsight it probably didn't seemed like the right thing for Roy to do , but being one of the most confident fighters of the last geberation, I'm sure his pride helped him through those ropes.
And about not mentioning it while in country, are you all fu.cking ******? Roy would have either ruined the rest of his stay or put his family and everyone in his crew at jeopardy with that mess. Not only that, it would have been very disrespectful.
Something was foul. The wraps, the hit behind the head and the early stoppage were all jut too much. Roy just didn't get a fair shake once again on foreign soil.
He was hit on the neck not the back of the head. and it wasnt an early stoppage. He was blocking the head shots but the body sdhots were getting through, and it was an english ref so if u get dropped, and dont throw back while 100 punches are being thrown at u he will stop the fight. U probably would complain more if the ref didnt stop it and Roy got knocked out cold.
Oh by the way, i take it u know what gloves Green was wearing? Might have affected the pop on his punch a bit.
Either Roys an idiot for going through with the fight knowing the wraps were dodgy, or, he's making up excuses. leaving it a week after the fight was over when no-one can prove a thing.
Either way he needs to retire.Comment

I wonder what was wrong with Calzaghe's hand wraps, I mean it must be something weird about them considering the beating RJJ took in that fight, stunned by a feather fisted manComment
