What do Muhammed and Rosario have that Cotto didn't? What makes them HOFers, but not Cotto?

I don't believe Cotto is a slam dunk for the Hall, I'm just saying, if these guys got in....

How about you make an argument FOR Cotto?

I already did in the first post:

If Saad Muhammed, Rosario, and Terry Norris are all HOFers, I don't see any reason why Miguel Cotto isn't one already. Do you agree?
What did these three above mentioned do that Cotto hasn't done?

Terry Norris is the only one of the 3 with a win over a HOFer (Leonard). Cotto has beaten a sure fire HOFer in Mosley.

Rosario won a LW title 3 times and a JWW title once. Cotto won a JWW title once, and a WW title twice.

Muhammed won a LHW title once and successfully defended it 8 times, Norris successfully defended his JMW title 10 times. Cotto successfully defended his JWW belt 6 times, then moved up to WW and won a belt, defending it 4 times before losing to Margarito.

So Cotto has won 3 world titles in 2 weight divisions, successfully defending his titles a total of 11 times. Only two losses, one against a ATG, and the other against a convicted cheater. And Cotto has a victory against a HOF fighter (Mosley), which only one of the previously mentioned 3 have.

If these 3 are HOFers, so is Cotto.

That's not an argument for Cotto. You can throw out two names but people can throw out 200 names as to why he shouldn't get in. The only case you can make for Cotto is that last paragraph. He should be judged by his record, not Norris' record, not Rosario's record...just his.

Like I said, this isn't a slam dunk for Cotto, by any means. You could certainly make an arguement that he doesn't belong. But if we're judging merits consistently, I think he has done enough.

Oh I agree. I was just using them as comparison. These are three guys that got in, so to compare them to a guy who has a 'chance' to get in, is perfectly fine.

But then you compare him to a host of others and you think he has no shot. So it's best to argue for him on his own merit.

I agree with what you're saying. Comparing him to HOFers like Robinson and Leonard, yeah he wouldn't get in. But I'm comparing him with other debatable guys. I would consider Cotto debatable.

I think his accomplishments are already close to enough, if not enough, to get him there.

Would winning a title at 154 from someone like Foreman help Cotto?
