Is Cotto already a Hall of Famer?

Certainly this is debatable, but looking at Cotto against 3 other borderline HOFers, he certainly has a strong case.

I posted this in the "Boxing History" forum, but for a different topic:

If Saad Muhammed, Rosario, and Terry Norris are all HOFers, I don't see any reason why Miguel Cotto isn't one already. Do you agree?
What did these three above mentioned do that Cotto hasn't done?

Terry Norris is the only one of the 3 with a win over a HOFer (Leonard). Cotto has beaten a sure fire HOFer in Mosley.

Rosario won a LW title 3 times and a JWW title once. Cotto won a JWW title once, and a WW title twice.

Muhammed won a LHW title once and successfully defended it 8 times, Norris successfully defended his JMW title 10 times. Cotto successfully defended his JWW belt 6 times, then moved up to WW and won a belt, defending it 4 times before losing to Margarito.

So Cotto has won 3 world titles in 2 weight divisions, successfully defending his titles a total of 11 times. Only two losses, one against a ATG, and the other against a convicted cheater. And Cotto has a victory against a HOF fighter (Mosley), which only one of the previously mentioned 3 have.

If these 3 are HOFers, so is Cotto.

How? Cotto was beaten to a bloody pulp against a guy who probably had plaster in his wraps.

Duran wasn't even hurt. He was just frustrated.

          Who's the bigger quitter?

So to fight going backwards means you're quitting? I guess Floyd Mayweather quits in the first round of every fight.

              Geez, this is lame.

Can we get past this god damn quitting thing and talk about the actual question at hand? Please?

Erik Morales quit, De La Hoya quit, Duran quit. All will be HOFers. Get over it.

If I would know how it get's judged I could tell you *looooooooooool*

I always liked Cotto... but I never thought of him as a Hall of Famer... don't ask me why... he's clearly one of the best of his time... but somehow I believe something is missing... Hall of Fame is an elite club... in fights where it counted he ain't come up big... he won against Mosley in a good match but nothing that catches the imagination... he lost against Margarito... he lost again Pacquiao... against both took brutal beatings (even though he was in the Margarito match)... even though Mosley will probably end up being in the Hall I think that many overrate Mosley's value... to tell you the truth... he is a good fighter but his resume is not something that will turn him into an all-time great or at least not as high as many think...

Based on accomplishments you could make an case even though if I'm right these guys rained over their classes supreme... Cotto was never the man at 140 (which wasn't his fault because 140 was really a mass) and at 147 he was it because of his body of work... but he was never the undisputed or lineal WW champ... so I don't know... I wouldn't mind if he's in... but I don't know in all honesty

Rosario was never the man either. It's not required to be "the man" according to who's been voted in.

I don't know either like you say, but in comparing him with 3 guys that ARE in, he matches up just fine.
