He made the decision that he was ready to call himself a world champion. That means he must fight the best contenders, especially Maidana. To call himself a world champion and then vacate the moment he has a meaningful mandatory is not only pathetic, but it is also an insult to the sport of boxing, because it devalues the term "world champion".

If he ducks Maidana to fight a feather-fisted puncher like Malignaggi, the only fans he'll have left are nuthuggers who don't love any true love or respect for the sport.

The only fights he can duck Maidana for without losing the respect of all true boxing fans are Bradley, and possibly Marquez. But not Malignaggi.

Where did you get that idea from? The WBA has said that he has to fight Maidana within 90 days or they'll strip him.
Your a joker...you mentioned that you have defended khan in the past, I have had many discussions with you and you are clearly a khan hater, be honest, id have more respect for you. Your opinion is exactly that, other people have theirs, a lot of people on this thread have mentioned that the mallignaggi fight is a good fight to take, its a step up. Not all of these people are khan nut-huggers, far from it, some of them have mentioned there not even fans.

Since when is a fighter had to make 2 mandatory defences in a row, its un-heard of I can't remember a fighter having to fight 2 in a row, I believe the wba will probably change the ruling on the 90 days, if not and they do strip him im sure the maidana fight will happen this year. Khan is not scared of big punchers, so you should stop insinuating he is ducking fighters, im sure he would fight anyone but he will also listen to his managment and freddie opinion on who he should fight. Any fighter that gets in the ring with manny pacquiao even if its sparring, (which is pretty much fighting in the wild card) im sure is not scared of any fighter, because it doesn't get any harder than that my friend.

The malignaggi fight gets him much more exposure in the US, more importantly its a main event, or at the very least on the pac-floyd undercard. Malignaggi sells tickets, he has been in big fights against cotto, hatton, and the two fights with diaz. Maidana is known only to hardcore fans, he has what 1 hbo appearance? Come on! Malignaggi is far more identifiable with the british fans and press, because of the fights at the city of manchester on hatton undercard, and the hatton fight itself. Khan doens't call himself a world champ, he is a world champ. Nothing has been decided on his future yet, they haven't decided on the fight. It could be maidana it could be paulie. The discussion here is that paulie is a viable opponent, you are getting heated and jumping all over a decision which hasn't even been made.

Fact is the paulie fight makes sense, and believe me when I tell you khan will learn more in one round fighting paulie then he will in a whole fight against maidana. Malignaggi is a former titlist and has been around a long time at the top of 140. Maidana has beaten a good prospect, and lost a close decision to a fighter khan beat on a shut out.

    Im done with you

i totally agree, but even roach said himself that khan is very dedicated and progressing fast

with roach's talent as a trainer and ariza as a conditioning coach, coupled with khans raw talent,he can achieve a lot in the sport of boxing

Khan looks more like Erik Morales every day as well.

What can I say. He can't fail.

            ha ha yes he does

Even his ring posture is starting to remind me of erik's a little. Khan is looking less like an amateur fighter with every training camp, the improvments seem small but permanent, which is exactly what you want

I think too many people are getting too outraged by the thought of this fight. If this fight is Khan's 1st fight in the US and the WBA allow it then what's the problem? Paulie beat Diaz in both fights and although Diaz was an undersized opponent, Malignaggi brought himself down to catchweights in both fights and agreed with everything else GBP wanted in order to make the fights.

I like Malignaggi but I think Khan will be too busy for him and then after this fight will have to fight Maidana which will probably be in summer 2010 so what is everyone crying about? Maidana could even be on the Khan-Malignaggi undercard fighting against someone like Salita in a keep busy fight. People are too ready willing to accept Maidana as an absolute beast because he beat the unproven but US "next big thing" Victor Ortiz. Let's not forget Maidana lost to the guy Khan cherry picked as the worst world champ around Kotelnik.

I've criticized Khan in the past because he's so hyped in the UK and I didn't think he deserved it based on the cherry picking of smaller opponents but now he holds a world title belt it could do him the world of good because the WBA will make him take on opponents like Maidana. However if he does drop the belt just to avoid Maidana then i'll go back to criticizing him, but if he has a voluntary and choices to fight Malignaggi then i'll look forward to the fight.

Would be a decent fight will it lasted. Malignaggi dances around but Khan hurts him in the mid rds for a likely stoppage.

Honesly...how the *** did anyone not see this fight happening?!?! Roach said before why fight Maidana now, when we could use that fight for a potential super fight down the line. My hunch tells me i should listen to Roach. Khan said he wanted to establish his name in the US, so this is it. To fight Bradley, would be way too large for an under card fight, and you all should know this. Frank Warren has stated that Khan will fight again in March 2010. So, seeing this fight happen should have been obvious. Both fighters are good, one is a speedster, the other is a trickster.

I agree with you. If Khan ditches his title at this point then where is the kudos in being a world champion? Maidana is his mandatory and he should take it as Maidana is very beatable. I dont mind him fighting Malignaggi as long as he fights Maidana first.

nothing in amirs resume says different.

maidana for khan, that is if warren allows it.
khan could beat that maidana but not paulie at this stage of his carreer.
