Is it just me or would a loss be extremely bad for Mayweather?

The amount of hate that Floyd would receive if he were to lose against Manny would be unprecedented in the history of sports.

Honestly, in reality, if Manny Pacquiao wins a hard fought, close decision win- which is the only way he could, in any real likelihood, beat Floyd, I don't think Mayweather's entire career is in shambles; unless it's his last fight.

Honestly, if Floyd lost a close decision to Manny; then beat the **** out of the winner of Mosley-Berto, slapped around what's left of Miguel Cotto, gave Margarito a return to welterweight and made him look ****** (all of these are purely hypothetical and random examples) and then fought a rematch with Manny or even retired, he'd still have the merits of a great career.

Yes, a loss would be bad for any boxer- especially in a mega fight. A loss for Manny would be devastating to his momentum, too. Especially to the casual fan- which is where he's recently gained so much esteem.

How that boxer deals with it determines, in the long run, how bad it is- for Mayweather or anyone.

It would ruin his career. People watch Floyd because he's undefeated. Casual fans don't like the way he fights because its "boring". His personality is not that of a crowd favorite. His resume has been criticized numerous times. All he's got as a boxer and an athlete is that "0". Without that, he's got nothing but money. If he loses, his next PPV will fall well below 1 mil buys. Fact.

Yeah. Below 1 million is a ruined career.

          Nice work.

Did I see below 1 mil? My bad, I meant below 100K. Who's gonna watch this guy fight if he's already lost? Seriously! The only reason people watch his fights is to watch him lose. He said so himself.

This guy losing is always bad because he doesn't mesh in with what everyone wants him too so his only way to keep the band wagon and fan today gone tomorrow people around is to be a winner.

It would depend on the fight, it is possible to gain respect from a loss if the fight plays out with that sort of excellence and drama.

What does it say about FLOYD and his legacy if he dominates Top 5 ATG Pacquiao in Pac's prime?
Just how do you figure Pac to be aq top 5 all time great?

Im bumping this question because I'd like an answer from NYU Alum or anyone else who feels Pac is or will be a top 5 all time fighter should he beat Mayweather. Anybody?
