Cotto would eat Chavez Jr alive. Foreman is big and has a long reach so Cotto would have to take a tune up at 154 and see how his skills, power and speed translate to that division first. I think cotto still wants Mayweather Jr and based on money fights Cotto would be Mayweathers best option after Pacquiao fight even if he wins or lose. If Mayweather fight with Pacquiao is close they would have a rematch late in the year but if either one dominates Cotto would be the best option in terms of money.

I don't think it's much of a $$$ risk for Chavez Jr. and Arum as we think. We all know the Mexican fan base will stay true to Chavez, regardless of the outcome. He can make one killer payday and go back to the bums and make decent PPV's down south. As far as a boxing risk, we all already Cotto will eat him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...

If Cotto was running for dear life against a guy who started at 106 lbs. what in the world makes you guys think he could even compete against the likes of naturally bigger men like Foreman and Chavez Jr. While both guys are extremely limited in terms of skills they are both stronger and better skilled than this version of Cotto. Cotto would be having nightmares of the pressure Margarito, Shane, Clottey and Pac implemented from the opening bell. Cotto is at a standstill in his career. He's not skilled enough to beat any of the elites or B-level fighters in the welterweight division and he's way too small to compete at 154lbs. Hell, I think today's Cory Spinks would knock out Cotto at 154lbs.

Corey Spinks KO Cotto at 154??? Really I think Miguel would walk through Foreman's shots and Outclass Chavez Jr easily and take the belt and run with it....Big $$$ from Chavez fight could be promoted to the gills by TOP RANK...Mexican vs PR Chavez Sr in the back round Cotto losing to Margarito in the back round would be epic in my mind...Lefty

To me Foreman is a stepping stone in the 154lb division he is the weakest of the title holders with not such a good punch 8 KO's in 28 fights. he has some good skill and will allow Cotto to come forward. The style in which Cotto does well. He will be able to attack the body and in my eyes beat Foreman easily. As for Chavez Jr this is my own speculation. Figuring once Cotto has a title and since Chavez Junior said he wants to challenge for a title this year it would make perfect $en$e.....thecould be in a MEGA fight PPV numbers and Cotto would be able to go out with a ****. This is if what he says is true about wanting to retire after two more fights....Lefty

honestly I still don't know you feel me, Chavez Jr is on a completely different war path than Cotto and will most likely be a Middleweight, they got plans for him against Duddy ya know it's just not a fight Cotto should take IMO. I can take Foreman just for a 154 strap but Chavez Jr? that is all risk no reward imo for Cotto, he stands at no real gain. I think his best option is if he can't get the winner of Mosley-Berto in his next fight he should take on the loser and let the winner get his $$$ fight and then fight that winner, if Shane beat Berto then fight Berto and then go fight the winner of whoever fights after that..

I guess in a nutshell if there isn't a respected title on the line or if it isn't a heavily notable name he shouldn't even fight again, at such a late stage in his career it's maybe not the best move to move up and risk more punishment, his mind is already set to retirement(I saw an interview this morning with him saying 2 more then no more) so why move up and face a whole new pool of adversity, a new stable of fighters calling you out? he should take on the winner of Jan 31 st while Floyd-Manny goes down and both winners can face off, I would really like that..
Both great post but I think I agree with Crillz on the Chavez Jr. fight. I don't see a need or a want for it. If it is money that Cotto wants then I think Chavez would be great and would be promoted as another PR VS Mexico fight but I think he would lose more than he would win. Even winning the fight I don't think it would be a big deal. Cotto is my fav fighter and I wouldn't want to see him fight that fight but ofcourse I would still watch it.

I agree, Collazo would be too much of a problem if it's a sure win that Cotto is looking for. Collazo gives everyone problems and could just as easily been at the top of the game if it wasn't for a few bad judges.

I think the fact that Pac was 106 at one point is a dead point. Everyone that weighs more that 106 pound weighed 106 pounds at one point..that's besides the point. I think Cotto can def walk thru Foremans punches..Cotto seems to have the most problems with boxers that are faster and throw a lot of punches.
