If I had to choose one of those two I would want to see him in there with Martinez rather then P Will even though I think P Will is open to the body and Martinez showed that with his straight left and right hook to the head combo he used to perfection I think Williams give Cotto nightmare style wise. Martinez is more of a counter puncher and will elt Cotto come to him. Style wise Martinez is a better match up for Cotto than Willaims...Lefty

This would be a relatively easy fight for Cotto since I don't think Foreman has the style to give Cotto trouble even at a higher weight class. Everyone says Cotto is a big WW and now the same people are saying he is too small for 154 right? Assuming he goes to 154lbs and fights and wins against Foreman in MSG the eve of the PR parade then what/ If not Chavez give me a possible last anf final match for Cotto.....Lefty
I dont know who they will choose for his comeback fight ut it sure will be a easy one. For his last fight It would be the winner of berto-Mosley, Margarito(Depending what he do till then) or Foreman at 154 for the title.
Chavez wont be part of the equation.

I have a feeling he wont retire, yet!!!!

Arum has Cotto's legacy in his hands. If Arum wants to, he could make Foreman-Cotto, so Cotto could get a title. Then he could make Cotto-Chavez and have a huge event where Cotto would win and take Jr.'s 0. Those 2 wins could put enough hype to definitely make Cotto a Hall of Famer.
Or Arum could feed Castillo to him (we all know how big of a boost it gave to Hatton) and a fight against whoever the IBF titleholder will be.

Both of the scenarios are based on Cotto retiring after 2010.
This is the point I was trying to make when I made this thread. Beating Foreman and taking a title in his third weight class than beating Jr and taking his 0 and also laughing to the bank makes $en$e....Fighting Castillo and than maybe a rematch with Mosley or a fight with FMj if he could get it...i think he is more likely to wake up with his face sown to the carpet than to get a fight with FMJ unless FMj losses....Lefty

Cotto has taken a lot of damage the last few fights but I think depending on how he does his next two fights will determine if he goes or stays. The man is only 30 and has a lot of boxing left in him.

I will have to disagree with that. I think even if FMJ loses he will not give Cotto a fight. This man bases his career right now on the fact that he has no loses..having one will break his heart, a possible 2nd, we might be talking suicide.

Cotto si 30 and has been threw wars. Look at his last 3 years or so Quintana, Urkal, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Jennings, Clottey and Pacquiao. No easy cake walk IMO. He has taken some real punishment in the fights with Judah, Margarito, Clottey and Pacquiao. He needs to go up against a feather wfisted opponent next time out. His last fight if that is what it is should be a big one a winnable fight with a nice payday he deserves it. Chavez presents that option and they are both promoted by TOP RANK. Uncle Bob might give him a gift he has done alot for Uncle Bob. If not Foreman and Chavez then he stays at 147 and fights Castillo and then what? .....Lefty

Chavez Sr will not let Jr get into the ring with Cotto.

Cotto should have a tune-up fight first and then a possible rematch with Mosley. Or IF Berto looses to Shane, Cotto can fight Berto, or fight Jan Zaveck for the IBF WW title.

Cotto fights Castillo at 147 than what he waits for the winner of Mosely Berto or the loser of Pac vs FMj especially if it is FMJ what? I want to know who you see Cotto fighting in his last fight or his second fight in 2010 which he says is his last....Lefty
At 154 in September 2010 on Mexican independence day. Oscar-Chavez Jr mark my words.

Now for the Cotto question I don't know who will he fight. And, I don't believe he will retire in 2 more fights. However, if I was top rank I will try to built up a Margarito rematch. I will have Cotto fight Castilo, Collazo, and Cintron in that order. In the mean time I will have Margarito fight Baldomir in his first fight back and then try to get a fight with Judah. And, then try to cash out with both fighters by having making the rematch after that.

Yeah, I don't like his chances against Mosley or Mayweather, not when there's a clear blueprint out on him.

JCC Jr. does not like to train and comes in unprepared, so Arum might as well put him in against Cotto in a big fight, instead of risking a loss against Dudley (which he very well could).
