Cotto is nothing more than a product of HBO HYPE. He was never of real substance
Cotto really lost to Mosley & Clottey

No he didn't. He really won those fights. People listen to too many soundbytes and watch with biased eyes.

Against Mosley, for example, he clearly won rounds 11 & 12, but people keep saying he "faded".

Against Clottey, he worked harder, and the cut was a product of a headbutt, not Clottey's fists.

I think it's a good decision rerember he said boxing is his job and he's taking it like it make enough loot so his family is secure, and get the f out. Cotto should be applauded dude is humble inside and outside of the ring and he had a gameplan to get out of boxing when he still has his health. You have to rerember he has been in many wars and the body can't take that all the time. He is a true pr legened and a champ, will and always be a miguel angel cotto fan no matter what. Fight a chump early 2010 and fight his last fight in msg on the eve of the pr parade and call it a career. Thanks for the great in ring memories champ. Can't wait to meet him at the boxing hall of fame. I live about 45 minutes away from canastota good times there.

Winning titles is overrated. Cotto defended titles against the upper-tier of the WW division and never sought concessions in weight and took all comers. Mosley, Judah, Margarito, Clottey, Quintana.

A gentleman pugilist and family man who respected the game as well as the players.

Nicely stated, I couldn’t agree with you more. This issue transcends boxing since the entire sports industry needs an upgrade in the way the players carry it. Many need to heed to the example of Cotto to honor their respective games!

Sad to see yet another underachieving, greatly skilled fighter marred by internal difficulties.

Anyone who hates on a guy like Miguel Cotto is a complete ****** and knows nothing about the sport of boxing. They are most likely fans of some fighter who likes to cherry pick his opponents and make a name for himself by fighting smaller less skilled men. Avoiding challenges in life will never make you feel a sense of accomplishment.

"I rather have tried and lost knowing I gave it my best than claim to be the best with out ever really proving it. "

The one thing Cotto has in his heart is the sense of self pride and that enables him to fight anyone anytime anywhere. He proved that in tha last 3 years. My hats off to Miguel and I will go on record saying I stand behind him in what ever decision he makes as far as retiring from boxing. That being said my selfishness for a fighter with his skills and heart won't allow me to let it go I would love to see him in there with FMJ, SSM maybe Berto? He has too much to give to not be appreciated.....Lefty

He is still an elite fighter in the sport. There's nothing wrong though with bowing out early though. It's better than doing it too late. Either way, he'll have my support.
