No way! i'm gutted, he has been in wars so I can understand why he wants to retire, i'm just a lil selfish and want to see him fight a few more fights.

This really isn't new news. Miguel has always said he would want to retire young. If it happens I'm glad to watch his whole career and how he has progressed to become a very good fighter. I wish Miguel the very best inside and outside of the ring.

The guy has been through enough to consider retiring. He has had a long career. He has accomplished a lot and made a lot of money and a good legacy, but hes also been in a lot of really tough fights. JLC at WW and then putting a beating on Yuri Foreman at 154 for his fourth title in his third weight class seems like a reasonable route to retirement.
My only thought is if he actually has those fights, at that point I imagine he would start thinking about one more "big fight", as prizefighters always do.

It's real tragic what happened to Cotto. He had such a bright future ahead of him until he fought shysty @$$ Margarito. Who should never be allowed to fight again professionally. That having been said, Miguel is damaged goods. It was evident in his last two fights, Clottey (who really won but they gave Cotto a gift decision) and Pacquaio (who just totally annihilated Miguel). After checking Miguel out on 24/7 he seems like a real down to earth kat and I wish him nothing but the best. Smart move Miguel!

no offense to you but cotto has always stated he would retire by 30 as far as what margo did their is no proof but i think he did it but there is no proof ...as far as him being shot i dont think do i just always felt even when he was with his uncle he needed a better trainer

                      ChampPR,
the problem is,if Miguel come back, beat Castillo and Foreman,I think he will not retire.
He will only retire if he loses again.

Miguel has been trough a lot of wars, but I think he isn't shot,I didnt see a shot fighter post Marg,I didn't see a shot fighter against Jennings,Jennings was an undefeated euro prospect ranked #2 by the WBO and get easely destroyed.
He managed to get a SD against Clottey with one eye,it is one of his biggest win tough he could have gone eitheir way.

He didn't look shot against Pac,he saw two warriors in the ring, but speed kills.

I hope he comes back and win a title at 154,in a third divisions.

He fought the bests, has wins over Mosley,Clottey,Judah,Torres,Quintana,Malignaggi,Ch op Chop...

                      A true HOFamer,in my opinion.
