Bute is a good fighter...

but beating a no defense Andrade twice (once almost being stopped) after Kessler already batted him doesn't make his the best SMW in the world. So far, the division is so rich, Calzaghe retired from the division with a Kessler win, so to me the SMW division is up in the air until the best fight the best with the winners having top claim...

So far those guys with top claim are Ward, Abraham, Bute and Froch...but no one is THE best yet...that's what the tourney is for...

They should make Bute-Green, Bute-Bika or Green-Bika

I just don't understand that. Knocking out a guy, with a good chin who walks into punches, isn't that impressive to me. Andrade constantly walks into punches, he's eventually gonna get caught with something that hurts him. Bute had 16 rounds to get it done. Plus I remember seeing Andrade rocked against that Mack guy, it's not like he's unhurt-able. Max Kellerman was really overrating Andrade's chin even calling him a "punch absorbing freak."

Ward's victory over Kessler was a statement, but he needs more than that to vault straight to number one. Don't have a problem with Bute being at the top.

kessler obviously isn't 3 after his thrashing...I think momentum factors into rankings as is noticed by kessler's drop

That's a very subjective way of ranking fighters. I mean, I know subjectivity plays a part but I think it should take a backseat to raw achievements. Why should Kessler drop so much just for one defeat? Other than Froch and now Ward who beat him, Kessler has achieved more than the rest at Super Middleweight. I don't see why one horrible performance suddently means other guys jump him in the rankings. That's giving rankings by default.

I agree, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be above Bute. Froch has better victories than Bute and therefore deserves to be above him.

You got to look at the body of work and Bute been dominating for a while now and he beat Andrade (a top 10 SMW) more impressively than the former #1 SMW Kessler did.

That right there is why Bute is #1.

Didn’t Kessler school Andrade and way better than Bute.

He did not stop Andrade in 4 rounds and people forget Bute won clearly the first Andrade fight. They just started crying robbery because of the reff controversy but Bute got up and that is all that matter.

Just because Ward beat Kessler doesn't mean he should get #1. That is just one good win. Bute on the other end has lots of good wins against pretty good opponents.
