Once agian you are speak in terms of what they are today. Back then, those two fighters would have gave Floyd hell. Hell, Spadafora knocked him down twice in sparring, and claimed it was easy work. Floyd never denied those statements (there is also a video on youtube of the session). Instead, Floyd said sparring isn't a real fight, but never gave Spadafora the chance to prove it in the ring.

lookin through these post and i see the names: Stevie Johnston, Paul Spadafora, Vivian Harris, Erik Morales.....WTF????!!!

SERIOUSLY what lengths will the haters not stop at to discredit the man. He's defeated every fighter he's needed to in every weight class except welterweight...and guess what that job is yet to be finished!!!!! goodness grief its sad how boxing fans can fix their minds to completely revise facts and truths simply to discredit another boxer....that only damages the sport.

In 2001 Floyd was fighting Chavez and Hernandez at 130. In 2001 Erik was fighting Injin Chi at 126. So lets get the facts straight that Erik Morales was not a Bantamweight during this time.

          No one is discrediting Floyd.

The topic asked when did the ducking start.

I provided two situations that no one can say didn't happen. That is all.

Nothing that I have said is false(maybe the knock down twice in sparring thing, I know it was once for sure, but going off of memory right now). Do the research.

lmao how much did Erik weigh after he beat MAB the first time??? 120!!! This is when Erik "called" Mayweather out. goodness grief, so this is a guy Floyd is supposed to fight, him being at 130 trying to move up in weight and acquire belts??? and you can seriously fix your mouth and say Floyd ducked him??? goodness grief

At 135 Spadafora called him out an undefeated title holder, Johnston called him a top LW, Lazcano another top LW at the time was willing to fight him, Dorin was willing to fight an undefeated title holder at LW. Yet Floyd fought instead fought Ndou and Sosa. Are you telling me Ndou and Sosa are tougher opponents.

Floyd was Harris #1 contender, Harris called him. Floyd fought Bruseles instead. Are you telling me that Brusels was a better opponent than Vivian Harris?

Anyway, Lederman said that he had never seen anyone with the ring generalship of Stevie Johnston (including Floyd). Listen to Max talk about Johnston. In his prime (at the time he was calling for Floyds head), Stevie was a beast.
ive only seen him fight lazcanzo i believe, and he got worked.but i'll assume thats outside his prime.but judgin by that fight,i saw nothing special,to small, and didnt seem great at anything in paticular.looked like a decent all around fighter.but paul just had some amazing hand speed that woulda troubled anybody

Stevie held the belt he got from Castillo. He was supposed to fight Stevie for that title. He chose not to fight Stevie. The minute Castillo had the belt, that was his mission to have that belt.

Once again, you seem to have today confused with back then. Floyd had no shots to call back then...But he did anyway. With those two fighters in particular.

Those were my only two examples. Valid ones at that. Stevie was considered the "Man" at the time he was calling for FLoyd, whats not to prove?

Spadafora was undefeated, and had really been tested in his fights. Plus he damn near insults you every chance he gets..At one point calling Floyd a coward...What's not to prove? Or should I say gain?
