You clearly never saw him in his prime then. Sorry I won't say that you haven't seen him in his prime(I don't know that).
Anyway, Lederman said that he had never seen anyone with the ring generalship of Stevie Johnston (including Floyd). Listen to Max talk about Johnston. In his prime (at the time he was calling for Floyds head), Stevie was a beast.Last edited by HandSpeed303; 11-29-2009, 11:17 PM.Comment

IMO Johnston beat JLC twice. I thought he got robbed the first time and edged out in the rematch.
But, anyways bro you don't win the fights on paper you have to win them in the ring. Spaddy and Johnston were both tougher fighters and better than Sosa and Ndou. The fights could of been made but Floyd didn't make them.Comment

Man this is my last reply in this thread but honestly, as you can see by the post after your last one, you are just wasting your time. I mean just like you, I have pointed out things I have seen and heard from following boxing over the years. I also remember Floyd not wanting to fight Johnston and the robberies against castillo. I mean all these incidents were as clear as day to any fan who followed the sport back then. Yet when you bring them up...then all of the sudden your a hater. I guess not **** riding Floyd 24/7 also makes you a hater.smhFloyd is a great fighter, there is no one that can say otherwise...But he has avoided fighters in his time (that is what this topic is about), this topic has nothing to do with how great he is or isn't.
The point the guy was making about Floyd fans not following boxing or Floyd career like they say they have, is if they did, they would know some of the things said in this topic are not false (the stuff I wrote anyway. I didn't even read anything up until I posted my thought on the topic).
Anyways if I was a Floyd hater I wouldn't give him props like I recently had in various threads. I never once attacked Floyd's talent in the ring, just pointing out my observations and while answering the TS question.
BTW It's not my job to school new fans on the history of the sport. By alot these replies, its clear most of you guys must have just recently started to follow the boxing closely and its comical reading some of the comments in this thread.Comment

That right there is what it comes down to for some cats on this site. I respect all fighters! The only two fighters I hate, Mosley and Margarito (for cheating and trying to cheat).
How much does anyone here hear me talk about those fighters? Im just not a hateful person.Comment

with Erik Morales around 2000-2001. I remember it like it was yesterday, because it was about as blantant as you can get.
Hamed was the biggest name in the lower divisions, highest paid, and had HBO backing him. Floyd wanted to fight him at a catch weight of 128, but Hamed stated "I'm the Draw, you should come down and face me". Hamed could do that back then because he had about 5-10 different options, all of which HBO would back and also would earn him big paydays.
Since Floyd wouldn't come down, the fight never happened. Meanwhile, Erik Morales had just beaten Barrera in their first classic fight that got them FOTY honors. Morales also had a huge buzz behind him and was becoming more and more popular. He had also moved up to 126, and seeing how the Floyd vs Hamed fight fell through, Morales was like **** it, I'll go up to 130 and fight Floyd.
Not once but several times Morales tried to make the fight only for Floyd to duck him. There was no way to defend Floyd for not fighing Morales, as there weren't any justifiable excuses at the time. So to answer your question, that was the first "duck" by Floyd.
Basically Floyd was willing to go down to 128 to fight Hamed, but not willing to accept a fight from a guy who was willing to come up to his own weight class and fight him.
Your full of s*t you f`ing clown. At the time frame you talk about I read basically all the boxing magazines at that time and followed the sport even harder then i do now and Morales have never called out Floyd.Morales said he was interested in fighting Floyd in the future after he came up to 130.And he said Floyd would have to come down but he never called out Floyd.Comment

you are obvious ****** if you think johnston and spadafora had a chance against floyd they have not accomplished half of what floyd has accomplished and thats the truthIMO Johnston beat JLC twice. I thought he got robbed the first time and edged out in the rematch.
