Pacquiao back then was a strictly 1-2 puncher while dashing forward and Marquez can easily counter that with hooks and uppercuts while stepping back. Despite Pac's past limitations, still gave Marquez his one of the best opponent he has ever faced that floored him many times due to Pacquiao's sheer quickness, strength and savvy.

Pacquiao has grown now in terms of style, skills and weight and Marquez would be asking for a KO for their 3rd fight if ever they are going to fight again.

Pacquiao seems to be more comfortable at JWW and WW then he was at JLW. Marquez is light years better then Hatton and he has better boxing skills than Cotto. Marquez made Pacquiao miss and made him pay. Pacquiao didn't miss Hatton or Cotto too often. You don't see many counters from either of them because they couldn't time Manny. Both tried to slug it out with Manny and that doesn't work. JMM is a great boxer at 135 and below. He can time Manny's speed and showcases the flaws in Pac's footwork at times. He is Pac-Man's kryptonite to this point in his career.

Pacquiao has grown tremendously within the last 2 to 3 years and have been adding the RIGHT HOOK and plethora of lateral footworks. But despite what you think that he was strictly that of a 1-2 puncher, he did knocked down / out many great Mexican Fighters due to his quickness and strength.

And so even then, the 1-2 Pacquiao still gave Marquez fits, to say the least.

If anything Pacquiao has shown the propensity to learn skills in a short notice lately. That in itself is a credit to his trainer and himself in not only that but knocking down great opponents in a higher weight divisions.

                    His last 4 were against........

                    Diaz
                    Oscar
                    Hatton
                    Cotto

NONE of them are right handed...counter punchers.

I thought we are talking about MARQUEZ here?

So you're right about those 4 but back to the Marquez. I believe that I have answered your question right, right? But that's the old Pacquiao.

Pacquiao would eat him alive nowadays with his added strength and various angles of attacks.
