Walterson you should give Joe credit for beating Eubank as well. That was an excellent win.

eubank was shot at 168, any of his fights after he f.ucked up michael watson aren't prime eubank

it would have been exactly like ottke - reid, a huge ****ing robbery, joe might have knocked sven out and got DQ'd somehow. ottke's name should be taken off the list of 168 lb champions, that bum would never had so many defenses if the fights hadn't been in germany

The initial talks happened in '02 but Hopkins already had a scheduled fight with Hakkar (he had to fight him).

forreal, after what happened to Watson Eubank went into his shell for a long long time, i'll say it was only his last 5/6 fights that he was something liek the old Eubank pre the 2nd Watson fight.

& c/s on the Ottke thing, Ottke could of been carried out and given last rights by the Pope and buried 6ft deep and he would of still got the UD

Even if you acknowledge that Bernard essentially priced himself out of a Joe fight the fact remains that Joe wasted a lot of years.

He didn't fight the top contenders in his division over an extended period of time, unlike Jones and Hopkins. People can ***** all they like but Roy and Bernard fought the top contenders in their divisions. The same cannot be said for Joe.

And don't give me that "they wouldn't fight him" garbage. These are just top contenders and other belt holders we are talking about here, not superstars.

I like Joe. He had a good career and was a great fighter, that is a fact, but you can't get away from the fact that he fought B and C class contenders for several years.

Well you can't blame him for not wanting to go up in weight to fight Roy Jones. Hopkins doesn't seem to ever have shown any interest in the SMW division. And I certainly don't blame him for not wanting to fight Ottke. But there are more guys in his division he could have fought and there does seem to be about a decade wasted in the career of a very talented boxer. He waited a very long time before he decided to unify the division.

Are you talking about Hopkins or Calzaghe?

If Hopkins, you have to note, that his goal was to hold the middleweight belt for the longest succesive time.
