Serious question, can Miguel Cotto defeat Manny Pacquiao if he has the right plan?

BTW, I'm saying all this with the greatest respect for Cotto. I'm a fan. I became an even bigger fan AFTER the fight.

I know Pacquiao gave the 1st round away. But 1 thing i did not believe when Cotto said but was made evident during that 1st rd was that he was just as fast as Pac.(Not literally. he was still physically slower but he showed clearly he could keep pace with him).

And even though Pac knocked him out i still firmly believe that Cotto was the harder puncher between the two.

If Cotto had fought the way that Pacquiao fought....in explosive bursts instead of selling himself on being the bigger, stronger guy trying to bully pac around....he would have been hit alot less...and been able to back up pacquiao from the respect he would have shown for the flurries as opposed to trying to force him back phsyically.

No. And the fact that there are still people who think this goes to show that the hype has not been totally put to rest yet. Is Cotto gonna have to have his brains bashed out to show people he's not an elite fighter? He deserves better than that.

He would do better of course but i still think he would wear Cotto out in the later rounds. Pacquaio late in the fight, never stopped coming forward even when he was hit by the biggest puncher in his career, and was not fazed by his punches. And this is coming from someone who choose Cotto to win by knockout, Pacquaio is scary.

I will disagree about Cotto being the better boxer, too. I think Manny is leagues above him.
                    Cotto has the better jab

The answer to the question: Hell Nooo! I'm surprised the poll was so close. There must be a lot to Cotto stans in here

Cotto simply doesn't have a chance. Cotto isn't even a one hitter quitter which would have given him a chance.

Pac is better and mentally stronger than him in every aspect. Like someone said earlier, Average can never beat Great. He simply has no chance

And please quit the "he abandoned the jab" bull**** scenario. He didn't abandon the jab. His jab was taken away from him with counter hooks and rights. The fact that he gave up on the jab and ran, saved his life.

Nah. Pac was just seeing how dangerous his punch was in the first round. After that it was ALL Manny.
