This is clearly Arum trying to Milk Manny for all that he can. Cottos proably done and Pac loses then theres really nothing else major for him as Floyd likely will seek fights with other fighters like mosely.

This is the main reason I hate Arum he aint **** but a white Don King.

Here is the more likely scenario, Shadey:

They know that Floyd can make an easy negotiation with Shane where Floyd (coming off the bonanza) would have Shane by the short-n-curlies to command an overwhelming percentage.

If Floyd beats Pac - say by MD - he can go to make buckets in a Mosley fight. And Schaefer has already espoused the position that Floyd deserves more. So Shane has no leverage.

If Pac beat Floyd, he would def want another payday. And as an Arum fighter, he is powerless to refuse it. He can't breach his promotional/managerial contract.
So I guess it's not a simple as a 'Floyd sign the contract' that BoxingScene posters have been 'spouting off' for the last week. And if Floyd beats Pac, wouldn't we all want to see the Mayweather/Mosley fight a soon a possible? If Floyd go for that, he might as well have Bob Arum as a promoter for the next yr.

You're pretty much agreeing with me that all Floyd would have to do would be ask for a rematch if he lost and he would get it, but if he won he would be a ***** and run off screaming I win to everyone within earshot.
Keep it hate free. Theres other fights to be made. Im sure if the fight was super close floyd would likely rematch. No need to start that childish ****.

If the fight is close, either way, there should be a mandated re-match. Guys like Mosley should fight Paul Williams. Let Floyd and Manny have a classic two or even three fight epic.

If Floyd signs a rematch clause he would get **** for it because if he beats Pacquiao up, and fights him again then he will get crucified and accused of ducking Mosley.

Everyone ****ted on Dawson for fighting Tarver a second time and ducking Johnson but those same people had no idea about the business side of it, Dawson was tied down in a rematch clause with Tarver.

Well true or not, you have to wonder what Floyd would say if he is ripped off by the judges and doesn't have a rematch clause. Same could happen to Pac as well. In that sense, if it is controversial, maybe one of them would step up out of honor and get the rematch going...kind of like how Floyd did it with Castillo right away instead of waiting down the road like others have or just not giving one like others have.

You sound like you have already given up on Pacquiao.

                It's understandable.

I am merely sharing what I was told, so don't crucify me. Let's be mature.

The Top Rank team is pretty insistent upon a rematch clause. They are asking for "right of first refusal" for Floyd's next fight. Team Mayweather does not want a rematch to be mandated. They want a "mutual consent clause".

It appears that Arum is concerned about future big money fights for Pac in the event that Pac loses. Which makes sense, because there really are no other big-money fighters on the Top Rank roster. If Pac loses, and "loses well", the biggest available fight would be a Floyd rematch. This seems consistent with what Arum has done in the past. If you look at his fighters, they do a lot of rematches. Esp Pac.

Team Mayweather, whether confident, brave or ******, don't feel that they need a rematch, and don't want to be bound by one. This makes sense as it is consistent with the approach that Floyd has taken in the past. He has done everything to avoid long-term or future commitments (no promoter, gave up belts so he wouldn't have mandatories, etc). Floyd has only done one rematch, and he walked away from the Oscar rematch.

Again, I am relaying what I was told by a source who is usually pretty good for me. But you are welcome to take it with a grain of salt. As you can see, this was an objective position. No hidden agendas.

                  Peace.
if floyd asked for rematch they would be saying ohhhhh floyd is scared hes gonna lose lol

Maybe you can put in the contract that the rematch can be within 1 full year with allowing another fight or two to happen in-between.

However, Floyd being Floyd and not knowing if his heart is truly in this sport any longer, he could walk at any time.

Reminds me of Mosley-Cotto, Clottey-Cotto...Two fights that had a high demand of rematches by hardcore fans. Never happened and not that many people are interested anymore since Cotto is no longer the same fighter, at 28 years old.
