Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations hit early rough patch over rematch clause...

Jeezuss. we can't just discuss boxing like men, huh?Win lose or draw Mosley would prefer to fight Pacquiao because it would help his stock more by adding entertainment value to his resume and the fact that regardless of the situation Pac would give Mosley a bigger piece of the pie than Mayweather would.
You're pretty much agreeing with me that all Floyd would have to do would be ask for a rematch if he lost and he would get it, but if he won he would be a ***** and run off screaming I win to everyone within earshot.Comment

Haye they agreed about the money? This was information shared with me by a source who is in the boxing business and and lives and works in Vegas. I do not have a link. So please feel free to disregard this if it sounds like BS to you.... or you can just take it as a data point for consideration and discussion.
I am merely sharing what I was told, so don't crucify me. Let's be mature.
The Top Rank team is pretty insistent upon a rematch clause. They are asking for "right of first refusal" for Floyd's next fight. Team Mayweather does not want a rematch to be mandated. They want a "mutual consent clause".
It appears that Arum is concerned about future big money fights for Pac in the event that Pac loses. Which makes sense, because there really are no other big-money fighters on the Top Rank roster. If Pac loses, and "loses well", the biggest available fight would be a Floyd rematch. This seems consistent with what Arum has done in the past. If you look at his fighters, they do a lot of rematches. Esp Pac.
Team Mayweather, whether confident, brave or ******, don't feel that they need a rematch, and don't want to be bound by one. This makes sense as it is consistent with the approach that Floyd has taken in the past. He has done everything to avoid long-term or future commitments (no promoter, gave up belts so he wouldn't have mandatories, etc). Floyd has only done one rematch, and he walked away from the Oscar rematch.
Again, I am relaying what I was told by a source who is usually pretty good for me. But you are welcome to take it with a grain of salt. As you can see, this was an objective position. No hidden agendas.
Peace.Comment

Benny, that plays to what Floyd is asking for:Well true or not, you have to wonder what Floyd would say if he is ripped off by the judges and doesn't have a rematch clause. Same could happen to Pac as well. In that sense, if it is controversial, maybe one of them would step up out of honor and get the rematch going...kind of like how Floyd did it with Castillo right away instead of waiting down the road like others have or just not giving one like others have.
If Floyd felt robbed, he can still get the fight under a 'mutual consent' scenario. If he felt robbed, that means it was a decision, and the fight was reasonably close. fans would want it, ARUM WOULD WANT IT, and since floyd would want it, it would happen.Comment

Very true. Personally? I think floyd takes this 40 mil, and then takes another extended vacation. Perhaps that is what Arum senses, and is trying to mandate the rematch.
After all, Floyd walked away from a $20 Million guarantee for an Oscar rematch. Why wouldn't he do it again?
You think Oscar wouldn't have preferred to fight Floyd again as opposed to the humiliation of going out on the Forebes/pacqiao fiasco?Comment

Once Mayweather puts a clinic on Pac he pretty much will be the lone top dog and could fight anyone he wanted too. Most likely MosleyVery true. Personally? It's hard to nail down the guarantees until you figure out how much site fee you get from the casino. The target for the site fee is $10 million plus.
In reality, site and gate is all you can count on. And a low PPV number as a baseline. For this fight, the promoters will probably use 800K-1 million PPV buys as the baseline for figuring the guaranteed purses.
Remember that the Guaranteed purses for The World Awaits was $32 million.Comment

Yes, wise, but he probably ain't as wise as he should have been. A brother of mine, while sitting in a bar with Naz, told him years before to avoid Barrera at all costs.
